Put in lots of oil so I can properly lubricate the dyno.
If the car stays together @BIR on the 23rd then it should be fine. If it doesn't then I have a week to fix it.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Have only done a few things on the car this week...fiddled with the gauges (still don't work), installed Rexpeed carbon fiber hood vents (the usual, half-ass fitment), and used a tube of silicone on the fuel hanger cover. The pump was in & out of the car so many times that the black goop had no chance of holding it on anymore.
Front o2 still throws CELs...going to swap that out at Shawn's tomorrow. NAV is still flaky. I hate all this electrical crap.
The car itself is beast, though. Looking forward to BIR on Monday.
Primo has my intake mostly done so that'll be ready for the tune on the 31st.

It looked nice when Jesse was finishing it while I was there on Wednesday. I think all he had left to do is polish it.

Mike told me that they ordered a tool to roll the BOV tube but it'll take a few days to come in. I'll pick it up late next week, either way.

Bored and watching the DVDs that come with DSPORT. Thinking about doing this for my 2011 vacation. I normally go to Asia anyway and I've never spent time in Japan, just changed planes in Tokyo.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Most bizarre night ever. My brother drove up with me to Brainerd today. He brings another car so I have a place to store tools and everything else in the car since nothing can be in the car when on the track.
Last night at 3:30am my brother was woke up by cops. The ATM card that he'd lost two weeks ago somehow ended up under a woman's couch that lived in his apartment building. God knows how it ended up there or why the woman was cleaning her house and called the cops at that hour.
Anyway, chick's boyfriend calls up my brother's wife this afternoon and threatens her and my brother...reading off all kinds of personal information from their credit report, the cars that they drive, all kinds of stuff. Wife flipped out. My brother just left to make the drive back to the Twin Cities. Our best speculation is that this guy somehow got my brother's application/file from the apartment complex. Is he the one who took my brother's ATM card and is now playing a game? Who fucking knows.
Now I'm in Baxter by myself and not sure if I should just risk going to the track alone or go get drunk and just drive home tomorrow. I'm not keen about leaving all my personal stuff and tools just piled up in a parking lot at the track. This blows.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Run out to target or somewhere and get some big plastic bins and maybe a tarp. Stuff that's well organized and covered isn't as likely to get snatched up. You could even talk to some of the organizers and see what their advice might be on where to keep some stuff. Usually paddok areas are pretty safe spots to leave a pile of tools and stuff when you're at a track, even if it is a parking lot. As long as you're around other car guys, make some friends and agree to look out for each other's stuff.
You've done so much and waited so long to get out on the track with a running car, don't let loosing some stuff stop ya If you run into major problems, there's more than a few guys on here that can lend a hand, go have fun!

Re: Evo X upgrades
Ah, I'm busy all day tommorow too with looking at houses/Dr. appt's, otherwise BIR is only like an hour from me, I wouldn't mind seeing some road course action...

Re: Evo X upgrades
Like said, get a storage tote or two. Then talk to Todd and ask him where to put it/where it will be safe(likely with his stuff) and enjoy the day.

Re: Evo X upgrades
I wouldn't worry about your stuff too much. If needed, I am sure they will let you put it in the classroom or in the shop. I have done it before with my tools.
Go to the track and have some fun! Time is running out.

Re: Evo X upgrades
I did go to the track...no indication of rain today so I just piled it up in the pit area. What the hell. Had an absolute fucking blast! Everything had started clicking for me near the end of my last day up there and today I was respectably fast. I certainly have a lot of things to work on...need to learn heel-toe asap. The two downshifts off the straight aren't doing my motor any favors.

The guys that run BIR Performance are pretty cool. You could go up there and spectate/snag a few rides as a passenger whenever you like.

Hopefully your pedals are set up well for it. It appears to be impossible with the stock pedal configuration in my car. The brake pedal is much further ahead of the gas pedal. I talked to a few other local viper guys who go to the track and they have had issues trying it as well on a GTS. I haven't practiced it or tried to apply it at the track. So far, my gear box has held up.
I would be more worried about the tranny than the motor.

There was a black E30 track car with a pretty impressive wing. It was flat and wide, whereas my APR has a curved design. A good driver/fast car.
There was a red Evo 8, the STi next to me, and at least one GTR. The 8 was moving pretty good, obviously cammed. The gentleman introduced himself as Peter and was there to show his teen son how to drive it. Didn't really get a chance to chat with him...hung out with a couple Porsche owners most of the day.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Awesome man! Maybe you could look into a small pop-up tent (with some good weights on it) that you could put up over your parking spot. I always feel more comfortable leaving a pile of stuff like that under a tent, looks more established and people are less likely to just walk up and rummage. Plus, gives you(or your car) a break from the sun if need be.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Jesse told me yesterday that my intake was being polished and would be ready today. Their bead rollers came in this morning so they decided to use them on my intake...it didn't go so well. Would have been nice if I'd known that before driving over.
Situation normal.

They are going to cut a piece of it off and weld on another one. Jesse was working on it when I came in. I assume it is going to suffer cosmetically but maybe he has some mad skillz. I told Mike I'd come by on Friday to pick it up.
I still love my Evo despite all of this (it's a fucking blast on the road course) but I'm leaning toward a Porsche next time. Buy something that I can rock stock.
