Let's do it. As long as they're flat, flat pieces are cheap and easy

Re: Project Lex
So the AEM will be a few weeks yet since he has to make a special harness for me. In the mean time, I've picked up some stuff. Got some of those Aero hood pins for the new hood. Also got all my sensors I'll need. AEM SS 5 bar MAP sensor, AEM SS 100psi fuel pressure, GM Flex Fuel, & a MAC 3-port boost solenoid. Good news was I had enough points on my credit card that I got all those sensors, plus a new Ryobi ONE cordless setup for free!
I also have some new ABS sensors on the way that I'll need for setting up traction control.
I also got my new Tilton Clutch Master Cylinder half installed. Hopefully I can get it further installed over the next week or so and figure out if that fixed my tranny issue. If not, then yaay that pig gets to come out. Crossing my fingers that doesn't have to happen.

Re: Project Lex
Glad to see you got some genuine Aerocatch vs the ebay/cheap stuff.
I love my aerocatch hood pins.

Re: Project Lex
lol, well they are $12 so it's pretty tempting vs the $80+ or whatever they are now.
I haven't installed mine yet, cutting into a CF hood is scary!

Re: Project Lex
Some more little updates. I was able to finish up installing the new Tilton master. Was hoping I'd get lucky and that'd fix the trans / clutch issue, but nope. Still looking like the clutch and FW fused. I'm going to swap in a new slave this week sometime hopefully just to scratch that off the list, but I doubt that'll fix it. So then the trans will be coming off. No idea what the timeline looks for this now. But when the trans comes off, I'll likely be switching over to a new adapter setup that mates a stock supra auto bell housing to this trans. Supposed to make this fit a whole lot better which will be nice, and also use off the shelf clutch parts.
I also picked up a set of Megan adjustable rear lower control arms. These should help me get the rear better alligned since the car is lowered, and help me square up the tires to the road to help with traction. That's the idea at least.

Re: Project Lex
More modern, nice! It looks a bit smaller diameter, any issues seeing the edges of the gauges after that? Smaller wheels are nice.
Assuming those are cruise controls on the wheel, hopefully you were able to keep that functionality (plus the airbag maybe)?

Re: Project Lex
It's actually damn near identical in size. I put it on top of the old one and it was pretty much the same size. And the gauges are gone so no idea, lol. But yeah same size so shouldn't be an issue!
The air bag I removed, it's just a hollow cover at this point (puts on flame suit).
The cruise switches don't work since I removed cruise from the car. But I left them on there just in case I need a switch on the steering wheel for something, I could use it. Say to enable rolling anti-lag or something like that.

Nice, I've never heard of that Tanin place. Looks like they do nice work. They even have DSM stuff on their page

Re: Project Lex
Yeah it's who all the SC guys go to, supposed to be pretty good.
Update on the car. I put the new slave in, didn't fix it. So trans is coming out. I have the driveshaft pulled, trans drained, and a whopping 2 bolts out of the trans so far. Not a bad start though for have a half hour of time to work on it.

Re: Project Lex
Sucks to hear about the clutch. Hopefully you can get some type of resolution from the manufacturer.

Re: Project Lex
Yeah I tried writing them again and no reply. I was writing Vinny Ten Racing though, as that's who I bought it from. Next I might just try writing the manufacturer (JWT) instead.
It's kinda funny, I purposely bought the stuff from Vinny Ten because of how much I heard them promote themselves as being the best all around 350z guys with the best knowledge and best customer service. But they sent me the wrong clutch, then asked me for more money when they realized it was the wrong clutch, finally sent me the right clutch, couldn't get me a replacement friction pad for my flywheel, and now don't reply to emails.

Re: Project Lex
wtf. I'd be going someplace else. If you know the part numbers, I'd just order locally.

Vinny Ten seems like the Dave Buschur of the VQ/350Z/G world. Huge talker. But apparently not as good of customer service as Dave.

Re: Project Lex
I'm not trying to re-order anything. I was just trying to ask if they've seen anything like this before with this clutch / flywheel arrangement, and also if they know what exactly the 'metallic' clutch disc is made of (i.e feramic?).
I'm not even sure what this new setup I'll be running uses for a clutch/flywheel setup yet. But yeah not going back there for sure.
Here's the new adapter setup I'm looking at:
