A massive 112hp at the crank, haha! Shawn said he was on pins and needles while the car was on the dyno, but I think he's comfortable with it now.

People can build all the janky turbo setups they want, it's just one more failure waiting to happen that will give teams like us a better shot at winning.

I approve this message. Turbo setups are a increased liability even when done properly. I cannot imagine anything good coming out of a turbo car in a racing series already containing the keywords "Under $500 and Endurance."

Any idea what your setup weighs, Matt?

No idea. I hope Jeff The Alignment Guy is in good enough of a mood when we get it aligned to put it on the scales and weight it for us.

this is the truth!

But, if you're the frankenmiata it also results in 3 lemons wins and a chumpcar win by like 30 laps!

I was just watching some BIR vids... I gotta keep myself calm or i'm gonna lose it before 2 weeks is up.

Haha that's awesome that Fat Tire was used as a honing fluid! Looks like it's making pretty good power too. Hopefully it holds together for you guys.

Re: My ChumpCar experience

It handles like a go-kart, has about the same straight line acceleration as one, too. At Iowa Speedway we were SOL on the oval unless we were able to catch a draf (+5mph on the top end) but we did work on the infield road course.

Re: My ChumpCar experience

Our car is pretty much ready to go. I'll head down and meet with the guys Thursday night and start packing then we head out Friday morning. Since we're sharing a garage there should be a plethora of tools between us.

Are you guys planning on bringing an engine hoist? Generator? Welder? Compressor?

We are waiting for our new race pads to come in, and we need to re-bleed with some ATE, then we're good to go. We had some weird pedal squishiness and used cheap fluid to flush the system. Car is feeling really well sorted after an awesome alignment from Stellar autoworks!

Nice equipment and friendly guys over there. Their regular pricing is nothing like Jeff but I had them take care of my car last year.

Justin at Stellar did an amazing job. He got all my specs spot on. I was incredibly amazed. Also, something had been cross threaded and Justin took the time to re-tap it and fix everything. I couldn't be more impressed.

BUT, you do pay a lot less with Jeff, so I guess you can't expect him to take that much time and care with things.

Re: My ChumpCar experience

You know the lights have to be removed for Road America, right? We are confident in our car, not like we're racing for millions of dollars to warrant an engine swap at the track.

Our car made it to Jeff the Alignment Guy this morning only to find out it had a bad left front tie rod end and a bad right rear ball joint. We sourced the parts during the day, Shawn picked them up this afternoon, brought the car back and fixed it up tonight. It'll head back to Jeff on Wednesday. Patched up a couple other minor things but it's pretty much ready to go.
