Re: March for health care!

ill start out with i didnt read everything said in this thread, but im all for a gov healthcare plan.

from my understanding it will not effect people who already have health care so much. but what about people like me who dont have health care and cant get a job cause the market is so flooded?

right after i lost my health care cause i got laid off, i had a choice, pay close to 700 a month for health care or go with none at all.

well i had a kidney stone a few weeks later, guess what, worst pain in my life so i went to the hospital, i could barely move, now i have a 6000 dollar medical bill hanging over my head, and still no job.

what a great way to start things out when i finally do get a job

currently im looking at going back to ups due to lack of options, that gives me enough money to pay for all my rent except 100 bucks, not including any other bills and food, or the huge medical bill i now have.

to me it seems like if you have a job, yay go you, if you dont, your just getting pushed further and further into the gutter by the current system

Re: March for health care!

and honestly i would take just about any kind of healthcare plan i can get, what if i get hurt or something happens, not to mention i think i might possably have an ulcer from worrying about all the shit thats been going on in my life, the stresses of finding a job where i can cover all the things i need to.

some public healthcare would really be some worry off my back, it would be nice to know that if something were to happen im not compleatly screwed, i cant even go get a checkup without forking over hundreds of dollars

Re: March for health care!

Does anyone have a good link to facts about the bill? I'm a bit confused as to what it all entails after hearing the speach and what not. He made it sound as if it's not government control of the healthcare system, but just an optional plan that one could sign up for (and pay for as it didn't sound like it's simply free), run by a non-profit group that would have to be self-sustaining on it's own without government subsidies. That's how I understood his speech at least.

But I don't just believe everything I hear, so I would like to find somewhere to learn more about it from a non-partisan nuetral source. Anyone have any links?

Do some research, there is affordable coverage out there.

I have what's called catistrophic (sp?) coverage and runs $70-200 a month depending on deductible. It is for people like me who don't run to the doctor for the sniffles. Mine has a $5K deductable but if I have a major issue 5K is a drop in the bucket.

There are affordable plans out there. Now if you have a large family and a ton of young kids affordable goes out the window lol

Funny how hypocritical people become when you start talking about their personal wealth rather than just the citizens and taxpayers as a whole.
Was I supposed to benefit society? What have you done? I guess you could say I take unlivable houses and make them livable for a family in my spare time. Does that count???

You can read every thread I have posted and you will not find the word "socialism" in my post nor anything saying that I support the idea.

What also makes you think I am wealthy??? I go to work like everyone of you. I am 2 years out of college, I don't make that much. I have a side business with the houses but that just keeps me busy.

Funny seeing this comment from the guy who posted no personaly attacks on the frist page of this thread. I am the hypocrit.

Obviously me chosing to buy a house at a young age was based on priorities. I couldn't find coverage which was economical for me. I only need a "disaster" type of coverage which was not available or I couldn't find it.

I am not someone who is sick all the time or had the need for health care. I would like to limit my risk if possible though. Only times I have been to the doctor in the past 10 years would be required shots (if any) or injuries at work (stitches, etc).

I have insurance provided by my work. I am not giong to comment on people who I don't know (ie cadilac driver). I am no different than anyone else on here, I go to work, do my job, and get paid. I dont see how I am "profiting from the system".

Exactly, I had gotten a job 3 days before I had my biking accident 2 months ago. The fucking ambulance ride cost $1349.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RIDICULOUS!!!! They probably drove me like 15 miles from where I was to Methodist hospital. Why the hell should something like that cost so damn much? I already have outrageous, beyond outrageous student loan payments for what money I make now, add some medical bills and KABOOM!!! I have to live with my parents now so I can barely scrape by.

Like I said before, this whole great debate in the end is just for the mere fact of reducing costs and getting everyone covered.

And I know I posted my dumb choice of booze + biking on the 4th of July, but it will not serve as ammo towards me and my medical bills I have. I simply don't have insurance, because I simply can't afford it. This kind of accident, not necessarily biking, but getting hurt seriously and needing an ambulance ride and what not can happen to anyone, and they shouldn't have to file for bankruptcy for an injury or illness. That just isn't right, and anyone that disagrees with that is just simply outright ignorant.

Re: March for health care!

Is anyone convinced that Obama will allow illegals to get access to healthcare even though there's nothing about allowing them in the bill he's proposed? I know Joe Wilson is still out there preaching about how scary it is that this is going to happen, as he thinks. He probably hasn't even looked at the bill to read it. I haven't read the whole thing, but I know for a fact that illegals aren't included in the bill.

This is a quote from Wilson:
"Supporters of the government takeover of health care, and the liberals who want to give health care to illegals, are using my opposition as an excuse to distract from the critical questions being raised about this poorly conceived plan."

What a fucking retard.

It is YOUR responsibility to know what doctors are in network. It is your co-workers fault that he didn't check with his insurance company first.

What is unreasonable about Medicaid? MN has an excellent Medicaid program. You want federal provided healthcare but forgo state provided healthcare that would have been almost the exact same thing?

No, you had a choice to COBRA your existing benefits, find your own health insurance, or go without.

All clinics and hospitals in MN HAVE TO provide you with options for a budget plan, charity care, or help you apply for Medicaid. Make use of the ALREADY EXISTING SERVICES.

There is already a federally funded program to take care of hospital visits. It's called Medicare Trailblazers. However, more to your exact words about "access", anyone can get access to healthcare, it's called self pay. There isn't a single person in this country who can't get seen by a doctor, be it dire need of medical attention due to a severed limb or a seasonal cold. The question is affordability and who is going to pay. For me, I pay the first $500 plus a $20 co-pay plus $120.22 every two weeks in premiums, plus $480.93 every two weeks in employer contribution. For viridionplague, he pays all costs himself, which probably end ups being cheaper overall so long as he doesn't have any long inpatient visits.

I look at healthcare as a place where most people have been allowed to be totally ignorant and get away with it. People have been insulated from the cost for so long that they feel entitled to not having to shell out a dime for their healthcare. If people had been paying out of pocket on high deductable plans for the past 20 years chances are most doctors offices would be doing whatever they could to offer low dollar services. In fact, this is exactly what the Minute Clinics of the world are attempting to do.

MN has a pretty good model for a government run healthcare system and this system adopted country wide wouldn't be terrible, however expect to pay for it. I am angry about having to pay for it at the state level and I do not want to pay for it at the federal level.

When it comes down to it, for all people healthcare is available, it's just not free. We have to decide, as a country, whether some basic level of healthcare is a privilege or a right.

Re: March for health care!

this will answer anyones questions http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAaQNACwaLw

letting the government control our health care will result in your kids, or kids kids, with little grain of rice sized SIM cards in there bodies controlling everything, putting SIM cards in your I.D. that will control your money, shutting that off whenever they want, taxes and taxes everywhere, making it almost impossible to live besides those wallstreet fools, wipin 85% of this country to hell, only the rich are gunna live, and there telling obama what to do because there BIGGER than him. why did nixon get thrown out? why did kennedy get shot? everything seems to be such a mystery all the time? they weren't down for there plan to take over the word and put it in there 4 little Main sections? unite canada and mexico, thats there plan! wait till 2012 playes out, if we don't die from nautral disaster, Obama and the next will. watch the video

Re: March for health care!

I'm in the same boat as randy. I'm 19, not in school currently, and unemployed not being able to find a job since last October.. I suffered from stomach ulsers (currently am) and was deathly afraid of what it couldve been. Luckily I know a couple family friends that helped diagnose it. I have a huge medical bill looming over my head currently because of the medication and the 2 trips to the doctor I had to make. My family is not wealthy, at all, and no healthcare plans are affordable for me at the moment. No income=no healthcare. I'd at least like to have an option. I applied for mn care 3 months ago, still haven't gotten an answer from them.

I don't know, when I needed health care when I was uninsured I got coverage within days. I remember going to the city/county office with my mom, we signed some papers and that was it. I will check with her to see what all we had to do.

Well it looks like you guys got what you wanted.

If you couldn't afford healthcare before, soon you'll be forced to pay for a plan you still can't afford.

And if you don't buy that plan you still can't afford, not only will you still not have healthcare but will also now have to pay a fine for being uninsured. Simply genius. Tax the rich, fine the poor.
