I agree, I will get around to it eventually...if my luck is that bad it is that bad, but I don't have money to spare on the build, already way way way in the hole. I just want it running.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Big thanks to Lomker, stopped by his place and picked us his Magnus MC that he had sitting on a shelf or something (he should open a store for his unused parts )
Anyway, here it is, I am not holding up my build for something as dumb as an MC, so if they can't get my SSP working i am ditching it for this.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Ok, so just stopped by DB over lunch to drop off the MC (Lomker's Magnus one) and me and Danny checked it out and compared it to an Evo 9 one on the 1000whp Evo 9 at DB. It is in fact an Evo 9 MC retrofitted onto a plate of some sort.
We then looked over the recently posted Magnus install instructions and of course, the install is not what Danny was hoping for...basically a complete start over on the MC involving some grinding to get it to fit as well.
So I had to decide...wait for the new gasket from SSP and hope that seals and if it does seal...pray that it will not fail in a month or two of driving.
Or on the flipside have DB spend a few hours installing the Magnus and also buy Lomker another Magnus to pay him back...honestly both choices seemed to suck...but I am sick of worrying about it, so I said Fuck it and told him to put the Magnus in.
The shitty part is this ended up being the bottleneck on getting my car running.
All they have left to do it looks like is the CMC and also the ECM bracket and wires and intake.
The intake mani, throttle body and fuel stuff are all back on, so this is holding it up which also made me think, screw it, i want my car back!
So, hopefully they can knock out the Magnus today and maybe Monday they will get to idling the car

^Can't....stock one is long gone, the original SSP one used parts from the stock one, so I threw out the stock one

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Danny told me today that they got the Magnus one in on Friday...apparently it sucked the big one getting it in and they had to take it out and flip it around after they realized you can install it two different ways, lol.
Regardless, I shouldn't have to worry about that ever again which makes me happy.
So I am really really hoping today they can finish up all the ECM brackets and wiring and.......start it up!

Crapski!
I totally forgot, lol. Well then I would assume that they finished buttoning it up...I hope Danny on Friday said the ECU bracket and ECU were all they needed to put back together (aside from the CMC which they finished Friday).
Maybe tomorrow I will get to see an idle vid, I wanna see if my new cams finally get it an Uber lope!

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Ugh, just got back from DB a few mins ago. Was there since like 5, lol.
Meanwhile in the back, mine hadn't started yet and I was pathetically trying to help them troubleshoot a wiring issue. Danny figured it out eventually after a light bulb turned on, lol. Apparently Mitsu likes to use the same connector for the starter solenoid as it does for the AC...so when we were trying to crank the car we were actually trying to turn the ac on, lol.
Regardless, tomorrow morning they are starting the car and will do some break in. If there are no leaks I should still be able to pick the car up from DB after work. (praying)
Apparently they were troubleshooting these electrical problem for hours over the last two days, gremlins suck!

Indeed. I still can't believe they were throwing the s2000 on the dyno after I left at midnight. I know danny had a install at 9am today too, so I have to imagine he is running on fumes.

Cool night time air is worth more whp to a S2k than an exhaust, that's why

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
I'm guessing it was Charles' S2k since they've had it for some time now... That car's ridiculous no matter what the IATs are.

Some asshole stole my SR20 since they pull a premium so I can't go.
Side Note: It is laughable how much the 4b11 and sr20 have in common they are so similarly designed.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Well not picking the car up today, but it is indeed alive! They changed the oil already on it and it has been running Danny said all appears well, they just couldn't get it on the dyno because one customer took a long time and the S2000 is still on there I guess...but no worries from me, I am just fucking pumped its running finally. Danny is going to break it in next week starting on monday, he said probably monday afternoon/evening they would get it on the dyno and he was going to drive it to and from work etc to help with break in since I will be out of town for work.
Danny said maybe they will even have it tuned when i get back
