I go a point lean without a shield on the intake but my O2s are disabled so it can't adjust.

410 on pump would be pretty crazy.

Very nice Scheides, glad everything is working out for you. Can't wait until you switch to E85, this setup will shine even more!

You going to rev to 8k on this setup always or just for now?

8000 is plenty for the street, I'll prolly do 8500 for the track, maybe higher as needed. Revs and engine longevity are directly related so part of me wants to keep the revs down but the other part of me wants to just use what I've built for things of awesome

You are a stronger man than I for resisting the revving...your car also works still so you might be on to something

The black really needs the extra revs though I think makes the transition between shifts way way better.

Does the bbx stumble at all shifting at 8k? I know my red almost stuttered at the stock rev limit.

Edit: I usually shift sooner than that, now that I think of it. It's hard to explain but it has always 'felt' faster to me to upshift than to wind it out. I have a natural tendency to upshift as soon as the dyno chart flattens.

Nope, BBX I can shift at 6500 and the car is still plenty fun/fast. Half of the fun of having a super wide powerband though is just cranking on it and reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevvvvvvvvvving it out faster faster faster woaaaaahooo! So yea I get what you mean revving higher.

The one thing I really want to work on the next time I go to the drag track is revving first gear higher. I think I could have picked up another tenth and with the extra power now it'll take some getting used to, but I have the valvetrain to do it now so why not. Also I was always scared to rev it too high for autoX but with the low gearing of the X I was sometimes hunting for which gear to be in; I think having a setup made to rev higher will make decisions like that easier, not to mention having more down-low torque thanks to the cams!

Heh, all I want is a healthy motor, a safe fuel, and a good tune. I don't think my priorities have changed that much, just those times ya know...they are a changin' :P

Well I think I've settled on 1.39*stock maf for about perfect scaling for my car and the 3.5" maf. Ironically:

area of circle: pi*r*r
inner diameter(stock): 2.8" (r=1.4)
inner diameter(primo): 3.3" (r=1.65)

area (stock) = 1.4*1.4*3.14 = 6.15 sq inches
area (primo) = 1.65*1.65*3.14 = 8.55 sq inches

conversion ratio (primo/stock): 8.55/6.15= 1.39

Others had told me 1.5 so I went with 1.48 to start....gah.

Anyways, been playing with boost. Goal is to peak to ~26psi and hold at least 25psi at 8000rpm. It's *not* perfect, but I'm getting there This is after about 3 revisions of testing.


(note: these pulls were started around 5000rpm, just for testing upper rpm boost...full pulls I will do when road conditions allow)

This is using my hybrid setup: hallman MBC inline with pierburg 3-port bcs. Seems to be working nicely

The back straight at BIR could be run in 3rd to redline or it's a very brief shift into 4th before downshifting again. I usually upshift since my issues have made me disinclined to really thrash on it. I suspect it'd be faster there to let it rip, though.

So are you running the MBC from the 3 port to the wastegate? In an attempt to get more WGDC that way? Just trying to understand. I was considering doing that to try and hold some more boost after 7600rpms...or however I would need to set it up I guess, never got around to looking into it.

BCS goes between the outlet of the MBC and the WGA. The sole purpose of this is to help eliminate boost taper that a MBC sees, and *hopefully* more boost = more whp but that is not always the case. We shall see come saturday

Not till next week, the new injectors are still in a box on my workbench. Yes this is just pump gas.

So, Primo came through for me with a last-minute surprise for the dyno day:

Introducing the Primo Performance 2.75" Evo X LICP


This is the coldside pipe on the X, wrapping around to the TB


The stock pipe is decent and I made great power on it, but I can't help but notice there's some subtle niceties that I really really like about this new, slightly bigger and smoother-bending pipe:


Mates right up to the 2.75" OD of the TB:


Utilizes stock mounting bolt w/ stock rubber mount:


Fits perfect! Comes with t-bolt clamps:


Got the factory air scoop to fit too!


Driving impressions:
holy hell, I honestly wasn't sure it'd make much of a difference. I was plesantly surprised to say the least! Off-boost in the 2500-4000rpm range the car feels more responsive and when boost kicks in I feel a definite bump in torque in the midrange!

The car feels great overall and while the boost curve is still not perfect, I'm able to hold 26psi at 8500rpm. PS I raised the rev-lmiter
