Oh, to you other X guys, the dealer also performed some recall on the headlights. I'm not totally sure what exactly it was, but it has to do with the aiming mechanisms.

Girodisc S/S Orange pads installed and a fresh flush of ATE Super Blue done!

So far these pads feel great; good bite with no noise. The real test will be the NTEC cruise to Shreveport this weekend though, and we'll see how they dust after a week or two.

A few new things to keep stuff interesting...

Since I'm basically done with power in order to keep the car daily-driven reliable, I've decided to start adding a few more weight-loss goodies in addition to the wheels and brake rotors I did earlier this year.

For starters, time to ditch the heavy Whiteline rear swaybar (27mm solid design, 17.6 lbs) which has served me well for the past 67k miles in favor of something lighter; I opted for the Eibach (25mm hollow deisgn, 8.6 lbs) which is about half the weight of the Whiteline, and actually lighter than the stock bar (8.8 lbs) while being stiffer! This bar is not as stiff as the Whiteline, but it was designed to pair nicely with the Eibach Prokit springs (which I also have). So far, initial driving impressions are favorable, the car feels very stable and controlled.









For now I have it on the medium setting, but once I install the Eibach front swaybar (29mm hollow design, 11.3 lbs) that is sitting in my garage, which is also lighter yet stiffer than the stock bar (11.9 lbs), I'll switch the rear to the stiff setting then play with the front settings to see which suits my needs best.

Next up, was a little preventative maintenance! Since my factory battery was 3 1/2 years old and starting a crank a little weaker than it used to I decided to replace it before it died, and in doing so I was able to shave ~25 pounds out of the trunk

I decided to try out the STM mini-battery kit for the Evo X which uses a Odyssey PC680 battery, which is similar but slightly stronger, than the Genesis EP16 mini-battery I used in my Evo IX.

Looking good. It is too bad that when you do a small battery you can't gain back some of the space in the trunk.

Very nice! I switched out to similar battery setup with a Lithium Iron battery. Any other weight reduction plans? How much have you saved so far?

Btw.. instead of the front swaybar replacement.. Have you thought about getting an adjustable bracket (3 hole vs the single hole oem bracket) for the swaybar link on the lower control arm to change the OEM to be stiffer?

That was my thought too, wondering if I can fit an amp back there in place of where part of the bigger battery was for the sub I am installing.

I was talking to Hughes about it, he was saying on the non highest setting you're cool with the stock links. They do look dinky but he's been running the whiteline solid one and they don't look bent.

After 67k miles of running my Whiteline bar on the medium setting my stock end-links are still in perfect shape. The stiffest setting is where you start having problems, but that's too much bar for a street car and even a lot of track cars unless you have some mega sticky tires. I have no plans to upgrade them If they do ever bend or break they can easily be upgraded though. A failure of one would not render the car undrivable so I'm really not too concerned about it...and honestly a little curious to see how far I can push them similar to my stock clutch

The Whiteline 27mm solid rear bar is very strong, and honestly even the middle setting was too stiff when you're running the stock front bar. From my limited messing around, I think the soft setting is the better pairing for a street car w/stock front bar but some of that will come down to personal preferences and driving style. I have a ton of data to support my thoughts that Scheides calls my napkin math...maybe I'll post some of that up too

I'm still toying with the idea of an aluminum driveshaft sometime down the road; a shop local to me is in the works of designing their own so we'll see how that plays out.
So far my weight-loss breaks down approximately like this:
rotational = 20 lbs
sprung = 35 lbs
The goal is to keep everything fully streetable and not do anything that takes away from comfort, drivability, or civility in the least.

I did look briefly at getting those front brackets + some Energy bushings/saddles, but at that point I'd be spending almost the same as the Eibach front bar cost me so I decided to just do the complete matching set (springs + F&R bars) and lose additional weight in the process.

It seems like it's they guys who charge head first into modding that replace anything and everything for no real reason are the ones constantly having issues and failures. I've done that enough in my life, all along with the X my goal has been to take it slow and calculated.

It's the sway bar ratio, effectively a balance ratio for the bars of the vehicle. The way he did the math, the lower the number, the more oversteer-prone it will be, the higher the number, more understeer-prone.
