Thanks! Still have a lot to figure out but glad its pretty consistent off the bottle in the 9.7/9.8. Darn nitrous not working 100% is starting to get kind of old too haha

Re: 2006 Yamaha R1

It's been a long day at work and I have been thinking about this pile, so figured might as well do an update.

Some of the pictures from the little burnout shoot I mentioned earlier

After getting my nhra license I brought the bike up to proving grounds. I figured my 60's would suck so made a video of my tach while launching that I could post on a drag bike forum asking for tips. They ended up giving me a lot of new things to try and good ideas.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lW2576TKidU&hd=1

Ended up smoking the clutch by the end of the 1st day and replaced the clutch at the end of June

Shortly after replacing the clutch the motor decided to eat itself real good like.
If you watch the vid it wasn't even doing anything stupid.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5NNMcpI3GU&hd=1

I then bought a super moto with money I had saved up to ride out the California that summer. Then sold that to pick up another r1 as it was a good deal. Also picked up a motor from a local guy to replace the blown up one.

Threw the new motor in the frame and checked the valves and they needed to be adjusted. Never had enough motivation to bring it somewhere to get them done so I ended up swapping swing arms from the bikes and trying out some new launching ideas as well as new gearing on the other r1

With the other bike, gearing and different launching I was able to run a 9.5 without the bottle.

I think with some more seat time I can get it down to a mid 9.4 with a better 60' and no bottle. Plus with spray I think it should go low low 9s next year! Fingers crossed.

This is how it currently sits as of today waiting for me to bring it somewhere to get the valves adjusted. Hopefully this weekend can bring it somewhere and start putting it together during Christmas

Thanks! I think I was just sleeping at the light. I can usually get him every time at the drag strip as he's not lowered or sretched, but on the highway he straight murders me and the twisties.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxWJpniWonQ
^That was one of our better roll races where neither of us jumped. I was spraying a 20ish shot and stayed pretty close until I clicked into 6th and he started pulling pretty hard, hit the limiter on that run lol. Drag racing gearing isn't the best for long highway pulls lol

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J12-zknFDQc
That was against my 05 stock wheel base and no nitrous. He'd have like 10 bus lenghts if he kept going

Re: 2006 Yamaha R1

Bored on a Friday...

Got the motor back in the bike after getting the valve adjusted at SSB. Wasn't too bad and all I need to do is to rivet a master link on the chain and wait for warmer weather to ride it and test it out.

Thought this was kind of a cool picture

Getting closer!

Also installed the GPS and radar detector again while I was messing with it. I think it's kind of cool and will be useful on the long trip I have planned.

Picked up some Kriega tail bags too for it. Pretty cool setup but damn spendy for what they are.
Picked up a tank bag from a guy on craigslist as well that will work perfect. I think the top small bag will be almost empty when I leave so I can buy little random crap along the way and be able to bring it back.

Then this is the trip I plan on taking with it:

The program calculates about 7k for what I had planned but might be a little off due to me not picking exact points on some of the things. Figure probably put maybe 7,500 miles on max.

Leave July 3rd and have vacation approved through the 21st. Might ask until the 23rd off in case something happens, I want to stay somewhere an extra day or gety delayed by rain. Should be a fun trip I hope!

Sounds like an awesome trip! Are you going North or South first? Is that Whitefish/Kalispell MT you are going to? My uncle lives there and always has awesome photos of Glacier National Park.

Edit: Can you see your gauges with that GPS?

I was thinking of going south first but don't have plans/hotels set it stone.

Yep, plan on rolling through Kalispell and checking out Glacier National Park. My old neighbor is always telling me how the park is and that if I ever go that way I need to check it out. Only planned on cruising through for a little bit but might try and leave a whole day to be around the area so I can ride around and really take it in.

You ever been up there?

I can see the top of the RPM gauge in a normal crouch and if I straighten out my back I can see them with no problems. GPS also tells me how fast I'm going which I'll probably use when in a crouch leaning on the tank bag.

Yea I've been there, but it's been quite a few years. My family goes to MT every year but we don't make it that far north very often.
Soon the glaciers will be completely gone, I would definitely recommend taking a full day there and do a few short hikes to see them.

I took a trip with a buddy to Colorado and that is going to be a lot of riding, your crotch/butt might not like you! We did 850 miles in one day on the way back and I couldn't ride for a week. He didn't ride for almost a month. I would try to limit it to around 500 miles/day. We rode every day we were down there and it starts to wear on you.

I've been lucky and never had that problem luckily! Figure probably wont have the opportunity to take that much time off and have to worry about any major responsibilities so might as well do it now while I still can.

Yea I don't think my butt will be a big fan of it but should be lots of fun! My longest stretch is 570 miles from Seattle to Glacier National Park other then the 650 mile first day through boring SD. Then maybe an 800 mile day to get home. Most other days are under 500 miles and all twisty roads so hopefully doesn't get too boring.

Only taking the interstate through SD then some on the northern route otherwise it's all back highways and county road stuff. Hopefully the two-three days I spend in CA not riding much halfway through will be a good little break!

Drug runs sounds like a great way to make the trip almost free

I didn't but I'll probably order one today at some point!
