Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG
Ghey, Anna got rear-ended by a 99 ford taurus tonight Hopefully we can get it fixed on the cheap; it was hit on the same corner a little over a year ago when we were picking up hughes' evo in ann arbor.
On the flip side, the ecu is getting reflashed soon, and even have a chance to put on an uprated FSI fuel pump (mounted on the fuel rail). Supposedly with a reflash this can net 25hp and 35tq....I'm waiting on some dyno graphs before I even think about it

Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG
Got an estimate this morning, I guess the part of the bumper cover that was damaged is replaceable, and its a non-painted part (just kinda black plastic), so damage is estimated at under $500. Hopefully the whole process goes smoothly but my main concern now is getting anna back behind the wheel. I drove her to work this am and canceled my schedule'd dyno appt for the evo at DB today I need to figure out a way to get her confidence back up behind the wheel; she was in a spin-out in her lancer a few years ago and just doesn't want to drive in the snow anymore.
time for an AWD ralliart + snow tires?

Get her in an empty parking lot with a layer of snow and let her rebuild her confidence. Practice makes perfect.

That is why we live 1.5 miles from my girlfriends work and it is all backroads, shes been in to many winter accidents. Really bad days I drive.
Glad to see she is okay .

Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG
Awd and snow tires would help a ton. Was this accident her fault of did the people behind just slide into her?
Id say take her to a parking lot and let her driiift around, teach her the basics of how the car will handle if you turn, brake, gas, etc.

Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG
The accident was 100% not her fault. She slowed and stopped because there was stopped traffic and an accident ahead. She left enough room between her and the car in front of her in case it was icy, which it was. The guy behind her must not have been paying any attention and just didn't slow enough and then slid right into her because he couldn't stop.

Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG
Last night I was behind some idiot on 169 and there was a crash ahead with a cop on the side, lights flashing. This guy felt it necessary to slow way down, and quick, at that. SO, I hit the brakes and felt the ABS start going off, and instead of jamming on them harder, I glanced over, and just switched lanes and passed 'em all.
I tell you, some people are retarded, if you can steer around a crash (or impending crash), why not do it? I think driving tests for liscencing should include evasive techniques. Sounds like the 99 taurus driver was one of those people.
But, it's only a bumper, right?

Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG
Yea, the most dangerous thing you can do in snow/ice is hit the brakes.

Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG
Good to hear no one was hurt, and the damage wasn't too bad. If it was the other guys fault, his insurance is paying for the repair right?
