A wise reponse, by any standard.
Keep the car stock and sell it for more, later. I'll buy it off you in 5 years for 3500 dollars.

Haha, no, just not a fan of semitruck turbos. Even when I had my DSM I never wanted a large turbo, I enjoyed the streetability and quick spool too much (not to mention the reliability and ease of tuning). Just my opinion though.
Does your EVO have any remaining warranty?

Yup, yup, 40k miles, 4 years, alky injection, or a gt35r setup, whichever comes first. This car is super fun stock though! Anyone know if installing cams would be a warranty voiding situation?

Chris nailed it.
Plus I dont enjoy buying a 30k car and having it sit in the garage on jackstands because it keeps breaking... Or I cant afford to put more money into fixing it. Maybe when I get rich someday, but then again I probably would just buy something even nicer and drive it like it is- 911TT.

If you touch that engine and Mitsu finds out about it you won't have any powertrain coverage. I know an S2k guy who got his EVO warranty voided for a turbo-timer, and another get his voided for an intake. I think its really hit and miss depending on the dealership too.
Was it Metro Mitsu that was going out to Rockfalls and writing down license plates/VIN #'s?

Re: Anna made me do it!
Dont believe all the dealer crap. i work for one and its not true... its if your dumb and bring the car to them with a problem without being smart enough to switch the stock part... its illegal for a dealer to void a warranty on a entire powertrain with no proof that ur mod caused the problem.. so run it... like i said i work for the dealer and people have car with intakes and chips and all that but just cuz the car has a intake does not mean the trans went out cuz of it/... see wat i mean? RUN IT!!!!

Re: Anna made me do it!
Tell that to the Mitsu Dealers around here. Actually, that sounds like a plan, you go around and tell them all that.

Re: Anna made me do it!
I work for a car dealer so if they are voiding warranties they are actually not legal... i had a fully custom 2003 jetta gls i brought to Burnsville Vw and it was not voided for a water pump leak.

Re: Anna made me do it!
I don't think you're understanding the reality here.
http://www.automedia.com/Aftermarket...sm20021001aw/1
It's not the "written law" that a company can't void a warrenty for aftermarket parts use. It's general practice for some car producers like Mitsu and Subaru to be very stingy on cars like the EVO and the WRX STi which are limited in production over other cars. For the simple reason they are often bought for the purpose of modding and racing. Many of the owners will return a car to as close to stock as possible before bringing a car in for any warrenty for this reason. This is why some in the car world (EVOs, SRT4s, WRXs) had their liscense plates written down while at local tracks. It's excessive abuse and in this case if a dealer finds mods on a car that lead to extra HP or Torque then they generally will make a case to get out of the claim. It's then that the owner has to take the next step and fight it and priove his point. Most just drop it and pay. There is nothing illegal about that.

How come you edited your original post? I enjoyed your comments about warranties being voided due to intakes, chips, ect.

Re: Anna made me do it!
haha, I don't really give a fuck if my warrenty gets voided, if I void it, its my own fault. From what I've heard, evo's have been uber reliable for a lot of people, even with no warrenty on it. There were dudes with big-ass turbo setups from all over the country that drove to the shootout this year and then drove home with nary a problem.
hey, what's wrong with the evo's windows...

Tell that to all the people who got their warranties voided for stuff that wouldn't affect anything reliability wise. A turbo timer would actually increase reliability if anything.
I worked for a car dealership too, that doesn't make me an expert of what all dealerships around the country can and can't do, nor does it make me a certified paralegal, so I doubt it granted you those magical powers either.

Re: Anna made me do it!
Meh to you n/a guys. "reliability" "blah blah" "lag" "too much power" "wet sand in my vagina" "blah blah". Hey Scheides, do what you want. Either way it can all be "reliable" but I'm more than sure you're smart enough to know that it's only as reliable as it's owner/tuner so it doesn't blow up because of some street "tune".
As far as warranty goes. There are some that are very good about "mods" around here.
