I see what you are saying. I'm just saying 10s isn't no small accomplishment.
I see where you want to make sure that power wise shooting for 10s isn't out of the question.
but with guys like ron and many others running 10s on stock turbo evos, you should know your question. Luckily with the net there are tons of examples to make estimations off of.
You guys don't have a Curt Brown in the EVO X crew do you?
I know he is going to a 8 or 9 now. DSM sad.

My car prob. made 370@DB at most on teh 16G (Only setup I got solid numbers on)
It took me a 2 times at the track with no issues to get my times from 12.0 to 11.7. There is a lot to learn about the car when you are drag racing.
Also I agree with scheides about talking about 10s like its nothing, Halon spent years building that clean DSM and diff. setups to get where he did. While you guys will for sure have the power to do it, whether you can or not in your first 2-3 outings is another thing.

Only problem with this logic of just running out and running times is the turbo setup. Shane made tons of comments on this when we were at BIR. A 16g car is easy to be consistent on. Stock frame turbo is probably similar, depending on size; the bigger it is, the harder it will be to be consistent. An fp black might be tough, I know trevor struggled a bit with his.

Re: What does it take to run a 10? 500whp@DB, practice, or both? Neither?
^True. I set my holset (middle sized?) to 20psi and ran 12.0s all day.
Street action was 30+.
I'm not against anyone here, in my eyes if you making the power and you spent all that $$$ you better run the times.
I say spray the fuck out of it. I can get a direct port kit if u need it.

Re: What does it take to run a 10? 500whp@DB, practice, or both? Neither?
The smaller the turbo, the easier it is to run a good ET for the power. It might take 360awhp with an Evo 3 16G or stock turbo Evo 8/9 to run 11.5, but with a bigger/laggier turbo it might take 50-100whp more. It's also way easier to launch smaller turbo cars. NLTS has made running bigger turbos and keeping them spooled much easier, losing boost between shifts is the ET killer on bigger turbo setups.

I know for sure a bigger turbo is harder to drive down the track. I ran a 11.8 at 126. And my best pass was a 11.5 at 124. Its not easy at all. You have more weight and who knows the X might be harder to drive down the track then a VIII or IX. I hope you hit a 10 second pass!

It's funny having been around DSMs for a few minutes; seeing how people change during their run through the DSM community and their reactions to new comers with high hopes.
Anyone remember the welcome thread for dsm10sec? (haha) This reminds me exactly of it. And those who got to know me know exactly how much I stuck peoples feet in their own mouths.
Sorry to go so far off topic, but man, watching myself get flamed and then watching people like LaCroix use quarter mile calculators is fucking hilarious.
