if it's done correctly, yes. If it's a hackjob for some odd reason, no.

Re: New dsm to minnesota?
If you did the basic 5 speed swap (ecu, 14b, 450's, m/t fpr) with a fuel pump rewire and 15psi, your car will be plenty quick and you will have plenty of RELIABLE fun. FWD or not. I ran that setup on my old talon and it was a blast to drive. I also drove it from IL to MN every other weekend.

You're a little late for that lol. If you want it for winter, save your cash and buy one in the fall. I understand you want to get in to an awd, but don't buy the first one that looks nice and has some parts on it.
I looked at a lot of other cars before buying kevin1g's gsx. Everything from 240's to WRX's. I did a lot of thinking, and A LOT of waiting and ended up finding a car I absolutely love. Yeah, I could have bought a car a lot sooner, but I waited it out, and it definitely paid off.

Re: New dsm to minnesota?
yea and ill be looking, i found a really nice 1996 blue one with 80,000 miles and is pretty much stock but my dad won't let me get a black one so those are out and he will literally talk to the person we are buying the car from for like half a day to make sure its a good car

You see every little flaw, it gets dirty extremly. We just aren't big fans of black, love them when they are cleaned but just get dirty super fast

All it takes is some extra care to look a lot better with black. You're choice though.
I'm in the process right now of moving from my 90 Laser into a 91 Awd talon. If anything, find an awd shell and start the swapping game. You have more than enough time before next winter.

Don't you have to cut a tunnel and everything for the driveshaft and what not?
It's not as easy as a 2g.

Agreed. Spray dealer and a California duster are your friends.

I meant moving all your parts to the awd but no, the tunnel is left alone besides welding in bearing mounts for the driveshaft. The 1g fwd to awd swap is just the same as swapping a colt or mirage. The reason it makes no sense is if you're going to do that amount of work, why not weigh a lot less?

Continue on.
