Re: 1992 Eagle Talon TSI Project
So today i cleaned up the SMOP, started polishing the exhaust manifold (out of boredom), honed the #4 cylinder. Went to DB today and picked up a boost controller, and got a small boner looking at the PTE Billet 67 in the case, and decided this may be the turbo of my choice for the big build.
Popped off the turbo and this really doesnt look like a Evo3 B16g. Can someone look at this picture and tell me if they think it really is?

Re: 1992 Eagle Talon TSI Project
Get a pic of the numbers on the comp. housing and we can tell u what it is, there is a thread on tuners about the numbers vs. big, small, E3 16g.

Re: 1992 Eagle Talon TSI Project
As you can see this evo3 16g looks VERY different than what i have, main thing being the compressor wheel. the one i have looks like they put an exhaust wheel on the compressor side. WTF

Re: 1992 Eagle Talon TSI Project
yeah, at first i was looking at my turbo suspecting it was a 14b because of the serial number. Later jhann dude found out that it had the e316g compressor wheel with the 14b housing. Previous owner did that.

Re: 1992 Eagle Talon TSI Project
^^yeah. i thought the big 16g had the double fins instead of the 14b fins?...both ways, i don't like the 'small' turbos but evo 3 is a pretty badass turbo.

Re: 1992 Eagle Talon TSI Project
I've posted the info and links on how to tell what the turbo is by the stamp of the last two digets on the comp cover on here like five times, hit the search button punk! Looks like a 14b to me.
Was it sold to you as a 16g?

'Small 16g'
any 16g will have the 6-bladed comp wheel, not the 10+ like in the pic above. Sorry man, I'd ask for some cash back on that deal, ouch...then again, at this point maybe just say eff it and keep moving on it.
