Re: DSMs vs. other cars, your other car maybe.
A 300zx build would be alot of fun too. a Z32 with a built and big turboed SR20 would be badass.

Screw the SR20, I say a 454 LSx would be fun! Too bad Z32's can't hook.

Re: DSMs vs. other cars, your other car maybe.
I would use the SR20 cuz you can make decent power on them and they're light. Weight is one of that car's weak points. Hooking? Super dorifto mode FTW! haha

I hate sr20's...
Will someone tell me about the V8 in the Lexus SC400? I am not familiar with it, or if people have made power with it? 1uzfe?

Re: DSMs vs. other cars, your other car maybe.
^I googled it and there isn't much infomation.
I think that I need to find a limit to my DSM to limit not only spending but power. I think that I will continue my upgrades, but then hopefully leave the car so that I can have something bigger and badder.
But if its not LSx, it will probably be 2JZ.

I know nothing about the SC400 but I know that the older 4.3 seems to like boost and can really be built. The Nissan 4.5 is very close in performance and now has better heads. This is the old 1uz done by HKS:

The SC400 or really the 1UZ-FE is extremely popular in Australia and New Zealand. They use them in every thing from insane FI boats to custom cars, to Supras, etc. They are a pretty solid base to build from and with a basic build.. they are monsters. Toyota 2jz power from something that has the sound of a great V8 + turbo.. It's amazing there really isn't that much info out there with the amount of builds of these on that side of the earth.

Re: DSMs vs. other cars, your other car maybe.
we're slowly building our SR20DET powered 95 240sx. it ran like 3 years ago though. just sitting in the garage. other than that, if we did have the money, i would go rb26dett+rb25det tranny+350z rearend+550whp!!! and i'll be satisfied. hahah... but for real, sr20det because it's cheap and parts are starting to be everywhere.

Re: DSMs vs. other cars, your other car maybe.
I would take the KA24 over the SR20DET. We made over 400whp on Andy's 240SX with a stock internal KA24 through a stock automatic tranny. Now he is going to a built motor, C4 automatic, and bigger turbo.

Re: DSMs vs. other cars, your other car maybe.
^^ Wow, I didn't think a stock internal KA could make that kind of power.
