I think in the House, the Democrats have the majority 232 to 202. Thats 53%. The Senate is 49 to 49 with two independents. That isn't much of a "controlling" interest. I have a feeling that is REALLY going to change next week.

It should be a very interesting election indeed. I expect the election to go very long this year as far as voter turnout as well as a close race.

Let's not forget.
FYI, Truman is holding the paper after being elected president. The lead that Dewey had in the polls was great, and he lost.

Re: Syncronized Presidential Debating
Bah, that doesn't mean anything. Papers always print both parties as the winner if the race is close so they're ready to go immediately. But I get your point, to listen to any national news channel, you'd think Obama has it wrapped up. But obviously he's campaigning harder than ever because he even knows it's way to close to determine a winner yet. I know who I think is going to win.

Re: Syncronized Presidential Debating
I am voting Democrat because I believe in change; although I don't know WHAT the change will be, or HOW it will happen, AND I am pretty sure that I won't WANT to actually change anything I do, but still....I believe in change.
I'm voting Democrat because when we pull out of Afghanistan and Iraq, I know the Islamic terrorists will stop trying to kill us because they'll think we're a good and decent country.
I'm voting Democrat because I think the government will do a better job of spending my money than I could.
I'm voting Democrat because I believe businesses in America should not be allowed to make profits. Businesses should just break even and give the rest to the government so politicians and bureaucrats can redistribute the money the way they think it should be redistributed.
I'm voting Democrat because English has no place being the official language in America.
I'm voting Democrat because oil companies' 5% profit on a gallon of gas are obscene, but government taxes of 18% on the same gallon of gas are just fine.
I'm voting Democrat because I'd rather pay $4 for a gallon of gas than allow drilling for oil off the coasts of America.
I'm voting Democrat because protecting barren wasteland is more important than energy independence.
I'm voting Democrat because I believe people who can't tell us if it will rain in two or three days, can now tell us the polar ice caps will disappear in ten years if I don't start riding a bicycle, build a windmill or inflate my tires to proper levels.
I'm voting Democrat because it's alright to kill millions of babies as long as we keep violent, convicted murderers on death row alive.
I'm voting Democrat because I believe guns, and not the people misusing them, are the cause of crimes and killings.
I'm voting Democrat because when someone with a weapon threatens my family or me, I know the government can respond faster through a call to 911 than I can with a gun in my hand.
I'm voting Democrat because I believe three or four elitist liberals should rewrite the Constitution every few months to suit some fringe element that could never get their agenda past voters.
I'm voting Democrat because illegal aliens are not criminals, are not sucking up resources through government aid, hospital services, education, or social services, but are just people trying to make a better life by coming to America illegally.
We can't blame them for that, can we?
I'm voting Democrat because my trial lawyer's crippling multi-million dollar lawsuits against doctors, hospitals, drug companies, and HMO's will make health insurance and medicine much more affordable.
I'm voting Democrat because Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan, and Jesse Jackson will end racism once and for all.
I'm voting Democrat because Christians in the Republican Party are intolerant, theocratic warmongers and atheists like William Ayers have never hurt anybody.
I'm voting Democrat so that no family member of mine will die in a hospital bed. They will still be waiting in line for Obama's socialized medicine, so they will never actually make it into a hospital bed.
I'm voting Democrat because I like eminent domain and big business and government kicking me out of my home and taking my land.
I'm voting Democrat because everyone knows that raising taxes at the top won't hurt people at the bottom.
I'm voting Democrat because skin color and good oratory skills are more important than judgment and experience.
I'm voting Democrat because I believe that Cuba, Russia, and China should be on the United Nations Human Rights Council.
I'm voting Democrat because I believe that everyone is essentially good -- even people like Ahmadinejad who call for the destruction of Israel. He just needs a little understanding.
I'm voting Democrat because we should all be forced to drive ugly cars with the horsepower of a riding lawnmower.
I'm voting Democrat because the government knows how to raise children better than parents do.
I'm voting Democrat because I want the rich to work harder, give me their money, and pay for my services so I don't have to.
I'm voting Democrat because I don't give to charity or do volunteer work and then I complain about how selfish everyone else is.
I'm voting Democrat because I've seen welfare help so many poor people become self-sufficient and upwardly mobile.
I'm voting Democrat because life just isn't fair and I deserve what other people have without working for it.
I'm voting Democrat because I like how Democrats can cause financial crises' like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and have the temerity to blame them on Republicans.
I'm voting Democrat because Obama was endorsed by Hamas and terrorists' endorsements are a must to achieve world peace.
I'm voting democrat because it's the COOL thing to do.
Shouldn't we all listen to the actors, musicians, and other celebrities regarding the leadership of our nation? Surely they're the most informed!
Oh wait.....No I'm not.

Re: Syncronized Presidential Debating
Im voting democrat because McCain is so quick to make foolish decisions. (Palin, Suspending his campaign and every decision he has made in his campaign).
Im voting democrat because I believe that a candidate should be able to speak in a manner that proves he has some education (which Obama does).
Im voting Democrat because I do not believe 4 community colleges and a major in communications/journalism qualifies you to hold ANY office. However JD. Magna Cum Laude of HARVARD DOES.
I am not voting democrat because he is black.
I am not voting democrat because he is an elitist. (which he is not)
I am not voting democrat because i am a lemming.
I vote based on the views
I vote based on the Issues
I vote based on who i feel would make a better president.
I believe Barack would make a better president
I believe Biden would make a better vice president
No one can tell for certain what will happen in the future but i truely feel that barack will make a better president and has better qualifications.
Also to the original post....
I would rather have someone always saying the same thing over and over again, then someone who constantly flip flops like mccain.

When your entire life is based off a teleprompter, it is easy to sound cohearent. I am excited to see if Obama wins and he is "tested" like Biden says he will be .

That doesn't count. At the rate it is, if you make over $30k/year your taxes will be going up by November 5th. Just in time if you ask me .

I love how everyone ON THIS SITE really believes that there is no way he can lower taxes, and no matter what hes a liar. So what happens when it actually happens, say your taxes go down and we have a surplus in the budget, will you admit you are an idiot for doubting it? How about this, if obama becomes president and taxes go down, you send the money you save on taxes and send it to me.
And also, not everything obama says is off of a freakin teleprompter, you have seen the interviews and the debates, i would say hes doing a million times better then McCain and Palin. McCain cant even read off the fucking teleprompter, (I.E. Rally in PA where he said that obama was saying a bunch of nasty things about PA and that McCain Agrees with him, and that he disagrees with them.)

Re: Syncronized Presidential Debating
how is he going to make a surplus my spending a shit ton more money then bush even is, and raising taxes on everyone? if people dont have money, they wont be able to buy anything. no one buys anything, bye bye jobs, no jobs? bye bye economy. and having the worst ran healthcare program ever.
So when all our taxes go up along with government spending (obama's basically a socialist), we go further into debt and depression, will you admit that your an idiot for believing his lies?

311 please stop talking, you are the reason that obama has to keep repeating himself. HE WILL NOT RAISE TAXES to people making under $250k a year.
By cutting taxes to 95% of the people the 95% of people have more money to pay off loans, to spend buy items which stimulates the economy. and leaves most people better off. Where do you get off saying that he will raise taxes? Where did you hear this? McCain, yeah McCain sure knows a lot about the economy
The healthcare plan is about as foreward thinking as it comes, if you would stop thinking about your fucking self for a second and realise that you can benefit EVERYONE by having a healthcare system that will make sure that EVERYONE has healthcare. If you have a job that provides healthcare then you can keep this healthcare and nothing changes, however if you are unemployed, or between jobs, the government will offer free healthcare so that if you or your family is sick then you can go to a hospital and receive help. HOW THE FUCK IS THAT BAD YOU FUCKING IDIOT.
Gee, lets see McCains side, "Im going to give everyone $5000 so they can go buy their own healthcare." Decent healthcare costs over $12000 a year, so are you going to pull the other $7000, out of your pocket. I know i would rather be under obamas "Socialist" Plan.
Im tired of people making shit up that do not know what the fuck they are talking about, and that is all you have been doing in these threads 311. Just shut the fuck up and get yourself educated.

Re: Syncronized Presidential Debating
Why is it any time anyone questions Obama's plans and policies the Obama supporters get absolutely and completely bent out of shape over it? No where do you see supporters for McCain or anyone else dropping F-bombs and getting upset as if you just raped their mom/daughter/wife/sister/girlfriend. What's the deal, Tom? Are you seriously THAT passionate about Obama, or are you so close minded that you don't care what anyone else has to say because you're entranced by the pied piper's song? You are just like every other Obama supporter, his word is gospel, McCain is the devil and everyone else is a nutjob. It's time for you to look in the mirror. You are absolutely hateful when it comes to this whole thing, and if there's anything that makes people dislike Obama more than anything else it's supporters exactly like you.
