Point proven? What point? The only thing that is pointless is your last post.

BTW I'm mainly refering to the groups of people and cars that get together and race.

Lightining- You have never street raced or met at that type of meet? If you havent cool, but if you have then you were a former dumbass right? No offense, just thinking this all through.

I was at Redrock once like 7 years ago, but I quickly realised how many morons were there, and the potential of their stupid actions.

I’d say the spectators got off easy. Theres states where just being there is a misdemeanor and your car is impounded. Its not a surprise that the cops came either, an illegal assembly of 100+ people on private property?

This is a topic that will always be a huge debate. No one is going to change their minds and people will stay pissed. Contribute to it with that in mind. My input is this. Anything can be done decently and obviously this isn't it. People have been doing it in small organized groups for more years than most here have been alive. It works out fine and everyone goes home. This form of unorganized racing will keep attracting police and being a dangerous situation for spectators, racers etc as long as it goes. People will either learn and get smarter or lose in a lot of ways.
The attitudes of some of the people posting on this thread are just ignorant. Claiming a lot of intelligence and innocense when in reality I know much better. I have ridden with a few of those posting the big opinions in this thread and they are all guilty of being some of the worst drivers ever as far as the law goes. Rubber band stops, speeding everywhere way above the limit and just in general acting like an idiot behind the wheel.
And if he hasn't told you enough already, Eric M is the smartest person on the planet. I know this because he always has such clever opinions of everything and is or was part of MENSA. Wow, the blessing he bestows on us just by being in his presence. And of course nothing I mentioned about driving was related to him :slap:

This is all I have to say on this post, you were the one that got the arguement started.
And like Lightning said, we were former dumbasses but saw the error of our ways. In the future, if we come straight out and call YOU a dumbass, then get an argument going. Otherwise, keep it in your pants. If you feel offended by his comment, maybe you should think about why he said it in the first place. You are lobbying for street racing and illegal activities such as street racing by taking a stand against those who oppose it.
Opinions are like a$$#@!&s, everyone has one and you may not agree with everyone elses.
And BTW, people that do the things that you listed are dumbasses as well for openly doing those things.

I guess I forgot my excessive ~10 MPH over the speed limit driving compares me to people racing 100+ MPH down public roads in groups of 50-100+ people, what was I thinking?
Besides, I've been driving that way for close to 15 years and never been close to getting into an accident, so I guess I must be doing something right.

normal is only that which you surround yourself with. if you are brought up around races and go to them alot, then it wont seem like that big of deal. same goes with speeding. if someone does it for a long time, it becomes natural to them but to others its still wrong. its all in perspective. i dont agree with going to street races. if it was only you guys at risk for breaking the law, then it would be different, but there are people on their way home, to work, to see family, along with millions of other things that are more important than getting a rush by going fast and breaking the law. putting innocent people at risk is the only think i cant overlook in this situation really...

A bit over 10, try 20-30 over on Uni just to get food. Is that smart? How many peds do you endanger with that type of driving? Not particularly unsafe for you, but the people you might effect are in a much higher risk situation just crossing the street and not by their choosing.
Even if it were only 10 over, who is the judge over how much more danger you put people in? It is faster than deemed safe by the civil engineers who designed that area. Comparing the two things is a little different for sure, but maybe endangering people without a choice to be there and involved in your illegal activity is worse than people endangering themselves that do choose to be there. Judgement call, my point is that until you are innocent, pointing fingers and calling someone else a dumbass over a judgement call is just not cool. If you are a perfect law abiding citizen have at it.

Me- "I don't think you would stand a chance."
Cop says "probably not" and drives off.

I doubt I was going 50-60 MPH down Uni, that would have been a ticket for sure. The line between my driving and street racing, in large groups, is a very thick one.How you think my moderate speeding, and street racing in large groups is comparable, in any way, is beyond me.And you thinking the potential for danger in driving 40 MPH, as apposed to 100+ MPH, is in anyway close, is just rediculous.

What Mike is trying to say is that wrong is wrong. Yeah, one is more wrong that the other, but it is still wrong. Usually the street racing is taking place at a remote area too, so innocent bystanders are at a minimum, unlike on University. 20-30 over doesn't guarantee you a ticket either, there may not have been a cop there at the time.
I am not taking any sides on this, I haven't been to a large street race in a long time, but I still drive too fast and get into races. I am going to say to each his own, and let it go.

I'm not saying it stupid becuase its wrong or illegal.I'm saying its stupid because of the seriously increased possibility for people, innocent or not, to get hurt/killed and it brings bad publicity to the whole "import scene" and those who drive "sport compacts".

i just heard about this from my cousin, i guess people dont really care what happend yesturday (nothing happend except the cops just told them to go home i guess?).. its like they just shrugged it off and raced again tonight. anyways i personally think this is all a waste of time and its just not worth it.. also i believe that those who actually do race should some how get punished, it pisses me off that they get away clean.

I'm not saying I never raced, because I have
I'm not saying I don't speed cause I do
I'm not saying I don't smoke, cause I do
and I also look at A LOT of internet porn
I got 3 "NO FRONT PLATE DISPLAYED" and 2 "NO PARKING 30 FT STOP SIGN POSTED" tickets in the last week, and I know I did it... I don't walk around bitching about "cops with nothing better to do"
And street racing is a HUGE problem, so it's what they have to do. Police serve the general public, and the general public is majorly OPPOSED to street racing.
What I said was for people to learn from MY mistakes. If you know it's wrong, why the FUCK do you do it, and if you do do it, DON'T bitch about it.
When, and I mean WHEN, and not if, someone dies doing that, you can say that I told you so, and I will hold no pitty. I will feel bad for those who are affected by it.
So you go race, cause it's YOUR decision, and you die. Your parents, your friends, your fellow DSMStyle folks here have to lay you to rest. You are willing to chance that so you can get off on using cars to see who's dick is bigger. Your parents cry themselves to sleep. The girl who fell in love with you 2 years ago goes into a depression and starts using drugs or something, Endless unseen consequences come from stuff like this. I am reaking the fruits of these consequences as we speak from things like underage drinking, smoking, even promiscuity.
I'm an asshole here because I don't want to see any of you in the news, or in a morgue. So if that makes me an asshole, then I'M AN ASSHOLE.
And you all talk big online...
You wanna have a real big boy discussion, I'll be glad to oblige...
