I will admit that he's not afraid to actually drive his car (he has been autocrossing as long as Ryan and myself), unlike a lot of people (aka benchracers) on here.

Is a mediocre (or even awful) auto-x driver better than a bench racer? That seems to be the implication.
I don't get the mechanic vs non-mechanic, racer vs non-racer, and poor vs rich sentiment...which amazingly has shown up all in the same thread.
If you're using a car for more than transportation and you're not a mechanic for pay then this is a f-ing hobby! Some people take themselves way too seriously, imo.

I didn't buy my car to look at or have it spend countless hours to sit on a dyno or weeks/months on end in a garage.

-How does he know the limits of his car? Ending up in the ditch inst exactly a good thing.
-Also I believe Mark did most of the work on his car lately.
-And I dont think hes ever built an engine regardless.
And not replacing that cracked rotor that you discovered on the fall cruise?? Redonk and dangerous.

Re: screw swifty time to pick on spaz
I can’t speak for Spaz’s other qualifications; I just don’t know him very well. However, having had a front row seat to the event (the aforementioned spin), I suggest that everyone (including Spaz) is making it a much larger happenstance than it really was. The speed was not exceptionally great, but the breaking could have been more linear or happened before the corner. He was into it, but at so great a level that I felt afraid for my personal safety..................... until the wheel started coming loose....

- Chill out, I got a little overconfident, the corner surprised me, and the brakes didn't bite hard enough. The new suspension didn't help keep the back end in line, and I hadn't pushed the car to that extent on it in the few days I had it on before the cruise. I definitely know the limits now, though.
- So? I helped. I also wouldn't have been there at all (not that you would have minded any) if Mark hadn't been nice enough to make time for me.
- Nope, never. Doesn't mean I wouldn't do it myself if given the chance.
Rotor turned out to be a surface crack, it's pretty much gone now. That's not justification for not replacing it, but it is at the top of my list. Now that I've finally had decent hours for the past few pay periods I can afford to take care of it.

Speaking of implications... might want to watch your wording

No, you don't. However, if you look at where people were running, you had autox'ers and crazy people at the front, people with decent experience in the middle, and at the back, people who were just cruising. That said, I'm curious as to your use of the word "we" considering you were behind me until after I spun.

And if I remember correctly, Peter was towards the back of the pack the entire way there in his magical super cool Porsche . Not saying he wasn't driving aggressively, just probably not as aggressively as some of the people closer to the front.

^I've seen it go full throttle down 35w once, well up 35w. lol.
Cars are meant to be driven, if you don't want to learn then I don't know what u are doing here. But hey I don't any other hobby where you can throw money at something and become the cool kid overnight.
Spaz, thanks for clearing that up.

Re: screw swifty time to pick on spaz
I don't get why conversations on this site almost always turn into some sort of dick measuring competition...who cares how good a person is at driving, or how fast their cars are, or how much money they have to drop on cars. We are all on the site, and fix, build, enjoy (visually and by driving), because we enjoy doing it. None of us are professional drivers, and none of us really claim to be. I can understand a bit of shit talking, giving people a hard time, cause it comes with the hobby, but why be hard on a person, that I'm almost positive has never uddered the words, "I'm the greatest, most perfect driver in the world."
I rambled a bit, but basically we are all here for the same reason, and not all of us have the same abilities.

Correction... Brent Rau posts on this site so 1. We do have a professional driver and 2. He definitly claims to be such. LOL

I saw the tail end of it almost step out into a Viper on 212...

Decidedly not, the cruise before that I ripped past 10 or so member cars on a two lane road and missed an oncoming vehicle by about 50 feet. By far the dumbest thing I've ever done at a Style event and will not be in any way, shape or form repeated.
I can't remember anything beyond that, though.
