Re: Test drive tonight........:->
Unless I read the thread wrong the Mustang Dyno'd 495/460 on a consvative A/F.
I think that is good enough to beat 95% of the DSM's on theis board if it hooks.

495 at the wheels? Scratch the 95% and make it 99%.

Well my expectations were really high cause the owner said it was in "perfect" condition, and "fast as hell".
Turned out neither was true.
The car had about 6 -10 good size scuffs here and there, <totaly NOT "perfect">.
The car did feel really tight, with only 7500 miles, and even I really couldn't get on it much with the owner riding with me, it only really seemed about as fast as my old stock 1G!
Anyway I walked away fairly unimpressed as a whole.
For $30K going to look into some other options, if it takes me a year to find something I'm really in LOVE with, so be it!
Thinking about maybe a C5-Z06, an Evo, a Grand National, a Supra or even a 3s?
Or Sti?
<Blonde, Brunette, Redhead,it's ALL good......:->
Any Suggestions? Looking for power and reliability! If there is such a thing together?

Get an evo & throw $5k in mods at it, you'll be pretty happy!
Since you're shopping around, why don't you check out an NSX or even a used 911 in your budget? You might be surprised...

Either the 03 cobra was bunk as hell or you didn't realize how quick they are. They are good 105-109 mph cars stock easily and with pulley and exhaust 119mph cars. Way quicker than a stock 1g.

You know this may sound anal, but the only thing thats really keeping me from just buying an Evo is their <IMHO> boxey, boaring, eruo looking, flat backends, reminds me too much of my wife's Mirage.
But that's just me.....
The front side and rest of that car I LOVE!

Re: Test drive tonight........:->
I'm thinking for $30k with what you're looking for the STi is the best option. They're fast, AWD, pretty reliable and most importantly come with a warranty. You can drive one in the winter without really worrying about it and of course have fun with it in the summer. Plus the uneven headers make it sound manly as all hell with a nice exhaust.
If you hear about chipping it though.... don't get your hopes up... the dealerships know when you flash the ECU.
An Evo would be nice too... they're pretty close as far as performance I'm assuming. I think the STi might be a little bit cheaper though.

Sorry I guess I'm thinking about the MR (that's the only Evo I consider in my head for some reason).

Re: Test drive tonight........:->
STi like I said you can flash it to get more power. Their ECU's are pretty weird though with their fuzzy logic learning crap. However if you're a man that likes to gamble (which I'm assuming since you're asking about modding a new car ), they're super easy to mod obviously. You just get a cobb tuning flash tool (or borrow one) and flash your ECU and get about 350HP with a new turbo exhaust. These kits (including exhaust) can be had for about 1600 dollars from here... http://cobbtuning.com/sti/power-s.html#Stage2
Like I said though... the dealership will be able to tell you flashed it. I think the STi and Evo are about the same quartermile wise. The STi gets the DCCD obviously too, you would need the MR (I believe) to get this option. I'm a gadget whore... what can I say.

What about a 350Z?
Between the STi and EVO, I say test-drive both before deciding anything.

Re: Test drive tonight........:->
older people like the sti..less responsive, more comfortable over long hauls. if you want a car that handles on rails..evo. it's more responsive, a bit more nimble, and are easier to mod..sti's yea flash the ecu, but when you are taking some serious power..I am sure they cost more then the evo, and the evo is easy enough to do..hell, it's a take on all of our motors! anyway, check into a saleen mustang? I am sure it's a bit more, but the one I saw today in all black looked rather nice!
