.06" is correct. Normal crank end play is around ~.005", the crank is almost wearing into the block at this point.

It's rare, but they have CW'd from the factory. I'm surprised it made it 100K+ miles though. That sounds more like lack of oil changes.

That is what I was thinking as well. Poor maintence history (pre DJ, as it had an oil leak when he had it, and always had fresh oil

Did DJ do regular oil changes on it? I do not remember. Topping-off the oil comes no where close to replacing an actual oil change.

Any model engine with any transmission has the potential to walk. There's just about a thousand factors that come into play.
