RF on Saturday the 20th? Nice, I should be able to make this. Gotta see Mark and Vassil line up.

Re: Mark's 1G Winter Projects
Do you use camera footage to help you set the car up?
I'm learning on how to set up the car and I feel like if I could get some footage I'd be able to see what to adjust more.

Re: Mark's 1G Winter Projects
Quick update. I purchased a PPG dogbox transmission, just received it yesterday. It had some shipping damage on the bell housing. I talked to Shep about the damage and ended up tig welding it back together. It had 2 cracks in it. I’m very excited to see what the talon will do with the new box. The 1-2 gear ratio is much more forgiving than the factory box and its got a taller 4th gear. The entry RPM into second gear will be much higher so I will get down the track quicker and faster than ever! I also picked up the quartermaster discs for my clutch from MAP, since the dog box has the same input spline as an Evo 8/9. What’s awesome is that the trans still has a stock syncro’d 5th gear for limited street driving!
I have myself another winter project. I plan to remove weight from the doors, wiring harness, useless brackets, trunk sheetmetal. Freshen up the cylinder head and inspect the shortblock. If anything is worn or damaged I will deal with it. I need to research my fuel system too, since my secondary 550 injectors are at almost 70% duty cycle with my primary 2150's maxed out. It eats E98, It's tough to believe I'm out of fuel pump. I run a 1800HP Fuelab and log fuel pressure.
Next summer should make for a good race season!

Re: Mark's 1G Winter Projects
I sold my AEM EMS Series 1. I purchased a series 2 ems and a 4 channel wideband O2 controller with the exhaust back pressure monitor kit. Now I can monitor each cylinders AFR and tune accordingly. Awesome!
Well I’ve determined that my fuel pump is not cutting it. On my last pass where I broke 4th gear my afr’s were going lean as RPM increased, 12.6:1, the pass before that I added fuel to my tune with no results in lower AFR’s. I’m not sure what to do. The correct way would be to use a 2400hp Weldon 2345A, but they are around 1200 bucks! I don’t want to run a mechanical pump either. I like the idea of using one fuel pump, it has a lower overall current draw as well. I called magnafuel and fuelab pump manufactures and they have no larger offering to what I’m currently running. Fuel lab recommended that I use their electronic fuel pressure regulator and another pump in parallel. I’m not sure what to do, I have a lot of time to figure it out. I’m leaning toward the Weldon, I’m sending the Fuelab pump back for an inspection then I’m more than likely selling it. If anyone is interested in a huge street friendly pump PM me.

Sorry to bring back such an old post, but I had some questions.
O2 sensors read differently pre-turbo because of exhaust pressure right? They are designed to be on N/A or post-turbo pressures. Does the AEM setup adjust for this with an exhaust pressure sensor? From your post it sounds like it does, I was just curious. I'd like to know what adjustments have to be made due to pressure.
This could be quite handy on a single turbo system on dual banks, like a boxer or v6/v8 engine where you normally have to read the AFR post turbo, when one bank's exhaust travel is much longer than the other.

No worries on bringing an old post up. Yes you’re correct, due to the pressure in the exhaust, pre turbo, the wideband O2 readings are not valid. The exhaust gas pressure transducer will allow for a calculation to be made to compensate. The pressure transducer input and algorithm processing is built into AEM 4 channel wideband module. I’m not sure of the algorithm/calibration curve of the AFR vs pressure.
This is a great feature; I mainly use it to determine health of each cylinder. The combined AFR post turbo can only detect major differences. I can detect a slightly clogged injector or a torn insulator with the per cylinder wideband. I detected a torn insulator, one cylinder was off by over a half point of AFR but the feedback error on my post turbo 02 sensor showed a 2% change. You can explain away a 2% difference day to day. However, a half point on one cylinder difference is significant and made me investigate the issue further.
Update on the car: I tried to dyno the car last week, my clutch slipped and we initially thought it was tire spin. This was in 3rd gear. So we tried 3rd gear again same thing. It hit the ignition rev limiter when the spin happened. Then still thinking it was tire spin we tried 4th gear. It was not tire spin and it was my clutch slipping, it was like an on/off threshold. Once the clutch started to slip the RPM shot up extremely fast and banged off the rev limiter and hit fuel cut at 9600RPM. It hurt the motor. I have coolant in cylinder #1. I don’t know the extent of the damage at this time. It’s disturbing since it was not pushing coolant, but burning it. I’ll be working as fast as possible to salvage the race season. Not good news.

Are you using anything to increase the voltage like a boost-a-pump?

I was super impressed with Lomker's Weldon setup, that's the way to go I think.
You sure it's not a slosh/tank starvation thing? I know I have that problem in my X....

Sumped cell, so shouldn't be a problem there unless its straight up out of fuel.

Nope, I'm not sure if it would help on a fuel lab pump since they are brushless DC, they spin at a set RPM by design.

I'll take a look at his setup in the build thread. It's not slosh, I down sized the tank to only hold around 5 gallons and I run it close to full for just that reason.

Straight out of fuel, I looked at my logs and I have fuel pressure drop. This may also be why I fried a 2150 injector eariler this year.
The graph is 3rd gear, the last trace is the fuel pressure log, its super noisy. Look at the trend of the data, decreasing with RPM. Also ignore the scaling on the log, I downloaded this log with a fresh revision of AEM Pro and I didn't set my preferred settings as these are default.

OMGZ 2 secs and 3rd is done.
I'll ask around/check out link too see what the big dogs are doing over there.
Looks like magnapump 4303 is popular or twin 044s
