Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!
Damn, I didn't realize Andrew went to the novice school. Hope you enjoyed yourself and will come to future events.

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!
Definitely enjoyed it, most fun driving ever. I will come to events, as soon as I'm back up there in June.
Question for anyone: I have an adjustable front swaybar, what setting would make it understeer less? Tight or loose? Right now it's on the loose setting. I have an RM 21mm bar in the rear, this is a suspension techniques 19mm front. Right now I have stock-ish spring rates, but thinking of switching to the stiffer ksports.

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!
Loose should make it understeer less. It makes the rear provide more of the roll reistance and makes the rear tires work a little harder.

Can you adjust your rear bar stiffer?

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!
Softer front and/or stiffer rear will help induce oversteer. Just the opposite will make it turn less.

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!
I had tons of fun today, and might have taken my class win. It's un-confirmed at this point, but at least 4-5 people that I talked to think I have the win. It would be a first for me, but it would also be my first time driving a truly competitive car (Mini Cooper) as well.

Anyone gonna be there tomorrow? I'm thinking of showing up with my camera, but not so much if there aren't going to be many people I know there.

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!
Why didn't you bring the 3/S yesterday, Ryan?
I had a good time yesterday. My morning runs were good and I was feeling very comfortable in my car, but I just couldn't get focused in the afternoon. My car control has improved though as I only hit 1 cone all day.
I was fairly disappointed with the organization yesterday though. None of the officials seemed to have a grasp on the flow pace or what needed to be done. 170 cars was way too many and it made the day really drag on. It was especially disappointing that we only got 5 of our 6 runs. Hopefully they get things under control in the coming events because it was never this bad last year. The 45 minute drivers' meeting was also horrible and seemed to be what set the slow/delayed pace for the entire day; it could have easily been summarized in 10 minutes.

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!
Yeah, being there from 7am until almost 6pm and only getting 5 runs was quite a let down.

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!
^ That sucks. I thought I had to wait awhile. Here in Iowa today we did autocross on a road course, so didn't really have to dodge cones. Started at 10:30, finished by 5:30, and only got 5 runs in. There were around 58 cars I think, I placed 2nd in SM. There was a bmw that got a 41.8 on his best run, I managed a 42.3 on my second to last run. Third place was a 43.0, I think there were about 15 cars in SM there today. Not bad for my first event.

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!
Nice job Andrew! DCTC is similar to a road course so that is a very fun venue.

Yeah, you get a lot less for the time invested with IAR and DMVR. They're just that much more lax.
And congrats on getting 2nd! That's pretty damn good for a first time, especially in DMVR's competitive SM class. Oh, and don't worry about Chris. Every once in a while he pulls a win like that out of his ass, but don't expect it of him every event. The other guys are normally faster. But from the sounds of it, you're already set to be a points contender for this season. Too bad you're leaving 1/3 of the way in to come back up here, from that perspective.

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!
Yea, plus I didn't make the first two events. Well, spectating I guess. I'm not in it for points, just to have fun. Lots of tire squealing today, almost lost it a few times, especially right after the finish line. The back corner was really fast, long straight stretch into sweeping corner, to another straight stretch. Maxed out 2nd at 8k rpms, sort of scary coming up on a 180* turn.

Re: The Great Autocross Mega Thread!
Does an ABS delete take me out of SM? If so that sucks balls, but oh well, it would be sort of cool to have an XP car that I DD. Hahaha. Where can I find a complete list of categories and their definitions, as well as acronyms. The STX cars were dominating yesterday, just want to find out what they can have for mods.
