Re: Goodhart's budget beater 1g
That does look minty fresh! Very odd about the BM trans. Is that the one that is supposedly my old one?

Tachyon's Kitchen!
Gears and synchros looked great!
Here's how clean the inside of it was, Paul figured it must have had very frequent fluid changes - I agree. Even the speedo gear was nice and new looking not all brittle and yellow like another trans we had taken apart had earlier.

According to craigslist/forums/other for sale ads, just about every trans is a 'shep stage 3'. I believe about 5% of them - usually can't prove it with any sort of paperwork, just 'the dude i bought it from said the dude he bought it from said...' Right.

Got one of these in the mail today, little shift stopper device thing from steve93talon on tuners. Feels pretty good on the workbench anyways!

Do you have any more info or details on that? I've never heard of it.

Re: Goodhart's budget beater 1g
Guy on tuners (Steve93Talon) made a run of them a couple years ago. JNZ used to sell a few of his products on their site, but looking now none of it is on there. Now I see they have their own product for the 90 shifters, so my guess is they tried to undercut him and he quit supplying them. Really not sure. I'm just glad to have gotten the little thing before they were all gone.

Re: Goodhart's budget beater 1g
Finally got a few more parts slapped on. Used FFWD copper embossed gaskets, ARP fasteners. This is officially the budget built gone wrong
About time though, shit was starting to collect dust as you can see.
As soon as I get a chance, the chassis will be getting rolled outside to get a quick powerwash. From there, this engine is ready to drop in. I still have a handful of oddball items to acquire, injector seals, throttle body, fuel rail bolts, radiator hoses, etc.
Need to properly torque on my 5th gear nut in the trans, seal that up and then it will be ready to be installed. Need to make sure I have the throw out bearing, jesus clip, fork, etc for that, axles seals too. I have the axles that will be getting used sorted out now. Still looking for the rubber breather pieces for the trans though, if anyone knows where to get those lemme know!
Clutch, flywheel, all that is sorted, so once all the engine is in, the drivetrain stuff should be a breeze. Only part I need to look for is the slave cylinder. Have a few laying around, need to find one that fits. From there it will be almost all wiring harness shit.

I tried! Nobody wanted my little 3076, so I'll just use it for the time being.

We'll see, I would have you make one for me already but for whatever reason the stupid NGK plug wires I got aren't long enough to travel the stock route with the JMF coil relocate bracket. I don't remember if this was a problem before with the green car or not. But with that car I routed them straight over the back and between the injectors.

Re: Goodhart's budget beater 1g
Wow, didn't realized FFWD was still around...they're oooooooooold school.
Great choice on the wheels, amazing how shaving a few lbs of rotational mass off makes such a difference. Lightest of all the OEM Evo 8/9/X wheels, should be a great fit for a DSM. Just make sure you get some lightweight tires to go with them rather than some heavy things that offset any gains.
What are you going to do for brakes?
