Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread
^ first things start up. Then I will button things up and make them look better, I could have this thing on the road next week. BUT, I need to get at least 2 to 3 more things befoe tuning it. BAP,A1's, and make my exhaust. I am going to use the downpipe that I have on there and then cut the one that I had on there before and weld it to fit the downpipe.. I like everything about thermal exhaust better then the one that I was going to use.

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread
Ok so I went to MAP today after work to pick up my second fan that had just came in. When I got home I took my 1g n/a throttle body off and went up to Primo and had Jesse make me a block off plate. I then went to ACE to pick up some new hardware for the block off plate.
When I got home I began putting this stuff on my car. I used some gray RTV for the block off plate and I'm going to let it sit snug over night then tighten it the rest of the way tomorrow. Got both fans wired up and put on my radiator along with the radiator installed in my car, then I hooked up my LICP. Put the throttle body on the SMIM and I am done for the night. I have tomorrow off and if all goes well this thing will be ready to start!
On a side note I picked up some H11's today and am picking up a Boost a Pump tomorrow! not much farther now!

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread
What are you making block off plate for? It's going to suck to drive if you totally get rid of the idle motor.

^This is what everyone has told me to do.. I will not be driving this all the time and will not drive this at all in winter so I deleted the FIAV

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread
Did you just make a FIAV bypass or did you completely block off the entire idle assembly?

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread
I blocked it off completely.
I needed to clear up some space anyways. After installing my SMIM my fuel feed line was hitting on that piece anyways. So getting rid of the entire thing save me the space.

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread
Hopefully you get it ready to go tomorrow!
That plate kind of sucks until the car is fully warmed up. haha It was always interesting coming to a stop sign when the car was cold because you would have to shit out of gear, break with your left foot and keep the rpm's up so it doesn't die. Not too bad, just made driving more interesting

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread
hahah damn it!
Once it warms up it acted just fine. I had to blip the throttle when SHIFTing out of gear right before 1k or it would die. Not sure if it was due to the combo of parts I had on the car. Again nothing too crazy just something that took some getting used to.

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread
^ Haha I got so good at doing that! Every person who test drove the car killed it a bunch, sometimes from shifting too slow. You get used to it though.

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread
Once it warms up I should be good though right? Or do I have to worry about this all the time?

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread
My brother Dan, (daneatsv8s) has the FIAV completely blocked off in his GSX and I hate it. Like Brad said, you have to keep the motor revved when it is cold to keep it from dying, and you have to give it some throttle before it will idle without dying when cold. I've always kept my entire FIAV/IAC setup and haven't had any problems. In my opinion, bypassing or even just keeping the whole system is the way to go.

From what everyone has described doesn't sound like something for a street car.
Let me know when you are starting that beast up!

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread
Well I just got back from NAPA with coolent, vacum line, and clamps. THIS CAR IS ALIVE!!!! It idles at like 1500 rpms though.. I need to do a boost leak test and go from there. It doesnt want to idle at first like I had thought but I just show it some love and BOOM! she stays steady at 1500. I will see if I cant get a video at some time today. I had 2 problems with this 1: I have a coolent leak on my water neck. 2: My oil feed was leaking from the head ( this is the one that I helicoiled....) So I just gave it a good tightening ( SCARED ) and all was well. I have my lap top upstairs charging and then I will hook it up and toy with the idle.

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread
Well..... I did a boost leak test and had a MASSIVE BOOST LEAK ( wont hold more then 1lb of pressure.. ) where I believed to be between the SMIM and head so I took all that shit apart and put some black rtv on both sides of my plastic gasket. Well, after putting it all back together I did the leak test again just to find out that it was actually my Injector O-Ring..... So I'm headed up to Primo to get some new ones and try it again.. I'll keep you guys updated.
