Do just like carl said and you will be fine. If you want a better turn to lock ratio then get the manual rack out of a 1G with the 1.8 motor in it. With looping the lines on your current rack make sure you leave fluid in it, or you will have problems.
haha, such hostility. i don't talk to drag racers or ape-men; all the people i know and all the reports i've read from people i don't know (all road-racers, daily drivers and autox'ers), say not to remove the power steering, it's not worth it and manual rack offers no real gains in feel/performance.

nice touch adding the "absolutely", and i'll continue to comment on information i have, thanks! as such, nobody i know (added the otherwise-implicit "i know" for your retardation) recommends it.
