EVO8 TurboXS UTEC on 1g

Would this work? Isn't the UTEC peak and hold so it doesn't matter injectors.. What about ignition timing? Is it the same? I know I will have to redo the harness and replace some sensors. That's easy, just takes time.

Re: EVO8 TurboXS UTEC on 1g

This has got to be one of the stupidest posts I have ever seen. Tom has some right up there with this, but damn!

How can an ECU be peak/hold and WTF does that have to do with injectors??

This definately won't be worth while to do, just get a DSMlink for the 1g.

Re: EVO8 TurboXS UTEC on 1g

Well peak/hold can drive both low impedance and high impedance injectors.. About DSMLink, if I were to spend ~800 on something I want close to standalone or at LEAST OBDII. If I were to do this it would allow me to tune like a standalone with the OBDII.

Re: EVO8 TurboXS UTEC on 1g

Are you for real?? What does OBDII have to do with anything? You can read out of OBDII, but it doesn't allow you to program anything. That is why you hook a laptop up to the ECU. Read up on a DSMlink once, it is close to a stand alone. And it isn't peak/hold for the ECU, it is a built in resistor pack.

It sounds like you are very confused. I would either do a bunch more learning or quit talking like you know what you are saying, and just ask some questions.

DSMLink is programmed through the same port in both 1g and 2g DSMs. Instead of needing a piggyback unit like the UTEC you only need an EPROM ECU. What are you trying to prove?

It's a fucking 1g, you don't have an OBDII port!!

I'll sum this up real quick, either buy a DSMlink and have 80% of a stand alone or buy an AEM EMS. Those are the 2 best options.

Oh yeah, we don't give a fuck about WRX's, they are slow as hell.

Re: EVO8 TurboXS UTEC on 1g

FYI: peak and hold is a type to injector driver. It sends large signal (high amp/volt/both) to open the injector quick and drops it down to hold them open. The other option is saturated, which just turns the power on and off basically.

As for the rest of it, well I quit reading shortly after I started.

Re: EVO8 TurboXS UTEC on 1g

Yeah, I found the peak and hold injectors, most people call them high or low impedance. My bad. The main reason I jumped on this guy was because he posted wrong information in other tech threads, then comes in here and asks an absurd question. He needs to start at a lower level instead of pretending he knows a lot.

He should just ask what he should put in his car, not trying to wire an EVO 8 UTEC into a 1g. All of this has been gone over before also. Searching would have done a lot of good. If people want to talk about this more, we can move it to the parking lot, if not I am going to lock it. There is no good technical info in this thread.

In the "AEM UEGO controller" thread.

Moved to parking lot due to low tech content.

LOL Jet is pissed.

Hey jet, how do i set my 710 cap to match the new OBD2 connection? Raptor said to turn it around but i dont think i have enough mods to do this. Maybe i should get a Evo 8 hood so i can do this entire swap. Do you have some gum?

Re: EVO8 TurboXS UTEC on 1g

Gum?? That is SOOOO last year!! Get with the times, man! Some monkey spunk will hold that thing on there good!

Don't forget you also need the fibber rear wing on in order to do that mod. Don't use monkey spunk on it though, it will eat the fibber right up! Jizmo 2000 is supposed to work pretty good on it though, and is fibber safe.
