Car Theft

Last night my cousins 1992 Integra was stolen from right outside his house. He believes it was the little bastards that live next door cause they stole his stereo and his sisters stereo (who had a 1996 Integra GSR that was stolen).

Why do they make cars so easy to steal? We have some Ford Escorts had my work and I can use any screwdriver like object to open doors and start it. I uhhh... do this for educational purposes heh. I thought maybe it was just a messed up car but ALL of them do it, even the boss's personal one.

In a lighter note, my cousin wants the people that stole it to end ou totaling his car cause he didn't like it anyway. I talked him into getting a DSM

Re: Car Theft

It got stolen because it's an Integra. It's not a new trend That sucks though.

Re: Car Theft

my buddy that had that red integra with the jdm front swapped on. Ya that was stolen. But the police recovered it 2 days later. Everything was ok with it, except his rims were taken and swapped out with some stock del sol rims, and his cd deck was gone. BUT, that same day they impounded a del sol, that just happened to have his rims on it. So he got everything back in good shape, except the CD Deck. He got lucky. He sold it and now drives a 91 gsx!!

Re: Car Theft

My old DA had almost been broken into multiple times in the st.paul area...and nothing bad happened other than a messed up door lock and a broken window. I apparently was dealing with idiots not car thiefs. Austin is right tho im surprised it was the da and not the dc.

Re: Car Theft

A) Did he file a police report? Make sure you asked the officer if he entered it into the NCIC database. With the new trend in busting street racing, and with VIN stamps on engines and trannies, if the VIN is entered into NCIC, and the cops come up with a hit, the person holding the property can be arrested, and if they find out who took it, he may be able to collect civil and punitive (sp) damages.

B) Sorry to hear about that. It sucks. I don't mean to sound negative, but you can probably count on your car being in 100,000,000 pieces by morning.

Dsm's are even easier to steal.Check out my starter kill idea in Gadget Tech, that will stump even the best of car thieves, well as long as they don't frequent Dsmstyle.com I suppose.

Bottom line;

There's too much money in it.
1. Car manufacturers like it because they get to sell you more parts for your car to be recontructed or repaired.
2. Or your car gets totalled out by the insurance company and you buy another car from the car companies.
3. Everybody needs a job. We need bad guys to steal the cars so the good guys can get paid to go after them or in most cases "fill out the appropriate paper work".
4. It supports a whole new industry, "Alarms and Security"

Think about it. If car manufacturers didn't want their cars to be stolen, they could build them so that the only way you could take it would be to drag it away, which in most cases would be impractical.

Re: Car Theft

Kinda reminds me of light bulbs. Like some house where Lincoln lived in is now some sort of tourist attraction people visit. Same light bulbs have been workin in that house since it was built. But now they make em so they'll eventually burn out. Because if they never burnt out there wouldn't be such demand for em. Sucky, but what can ya do. Sorry, just one of those useless knowledge things I don't know how i know, but what Vicious said reminded me of it.
