Meet GheyRay: Lower, Wider, Lighter!
2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
1LT interior equipment package
Z51 performance package
7-speed manual
Arctic White exterior
Jet Black leather w/gray stitching
Black Z51 19"/20" wheels
Navigation
Performance Exhaust
Magnetic Ride Control
I custom ordered the car through Whitmoyer Chevrolet in Pennsylvania on 1/28/14 since none of the DFW dealerships had any remaining allocations for 2014 models (they couldn't even guarantee me delivery of a 2015 model during this calendar year) and took Courtesy Delivery through Huffines Chevrolet in Lewisville, TX. Courtesy Delivery is a program Chevy has that allows one dealership to order the car then have the factory ship it direct to another dealership. I took delivery of the car yesterday, 4/10/14, with 3 miles on the odometer! After putting in a few gallons of gas I drove it straight home and got a coat of wax on it. I plan to take a mini-roadtrip this weekend to the only Old Chicago in Texas, Killeen, TX, to complete the engine break-in. Until 500 miles the rev-limiter is set at 4,500 RPM with restricted usage of the throttle.
So far my impressions are simply amazing though; all the reviews and articles did not lie! The torque and response of the engine is a whole new world to me.
On to the pictures...

Re: Meet GheyRay: Lower, Wider, Lighter!
Looks like you'll be having some fun! That will be a lot of torque to play with. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on it once you do some serious miles on it and how it compares to EVOs. Because they are for sure different beasts.
later,
Curt

Incredibly tight! They packed 7 gears into a smaller space than the Evo's 5-speed even with the short-shifter mods on both my IX & X. It is very smooth and precise though; one of the first shifters I've ever owned that I don't immediately feel like it needs modding/fixing. It feels very similar to the OEM optional 6-speed short-shifter on the Camaro SS.

Trade you a non running built evo x for this...deal?
I am loving the white with black accents on this, best looking c7 I have seen so far.
How are mods/tuning support for this right now? Available?

Thank you very much! It looks absolutely stunning in person, I am 100% happy with my color combo...maybe add red brake calipers in a perfect world, but as a $600 option I said no thank you to them. An exposed carbon fiber roof would be cool too (my roof is painted carbon fiber), but that option was on constraint and would have added even more time to the process.
Mod support and availability is actually pretty strong and growing daily! My plans are to stay very basic, but there are plenty of tuning solutions, headers, intakes, etc. available. My plan for year 1 will likely be the AFE intake + Diablo handheld tuner (similar to the Accessport). I could get a custom dyno tune @ LG Motorsports in Plano, but that just isn't needed yet...maybe someday when/if I get a set of headers.
Oh, regarding the trade...NO.

Re: Meet GheyRay: Lower, Wider, Lighter!
Just saw a black on black one at my hotel in Jersey yesterday, I just can't get over how sexy they are. This is the level of car that might not even need much for mods, it's such a great car as-is. Can't wait to get a ride!

Re: Meet GheyRay: Lower, Wider, Lighter!
Honestly, the more I drive it, the less I want to mod it! I haven't even gone past 4500 RPM yet either. Chevy did a great job...and in Track Mode the exhaust has a nasty start-up growl...it scared me in my parking garage at work taking a coworker for a ride!
I've officially made it into 7th gear as well God bless Texas tollways
