Re: Fancy Beer!
Well last weekend i finally tried my home brew. I didn't skunk it! That was a success for me. It is by no means fancy beer, but it wasn't too bad. We called it "She Wolf", its ok (beer fest reference for anyone who doesn't know).
We are going to do a pale ale or IPA next, so hopefully that turns out solid and is worthy of being a craft beer.
tonight is bowling though, Surly furious on tap!

You're not missing much with Smoke. Last year's Smoke got a lot of ridicule for being WAY too smokey. So this years was toned down to the point where you could barely even tell it was a smoked Porter.

Re: Fancy Beer!
The strongest smoke was the first year 2010. It will differ year to year. This years is a good well balanced smoke. Great on tap at surly. The few of us that go every week had some 12 tap when smoke hit the tap lines this year it was very weak smoke.
All in all surly smoke is a very mild smoke porter compared to other brewery's.

Re: Fancy Beer!
Went to Bluzy's roadside bar in Blaine last night.
Had a flight, well two flights as my girlfriend didn't drink hers at all.
It was a minnesota one, really good beers.
One was 612, and I honestly don't remember the others. I have never had any of them before and they were all pretty good. One Northern IPA, two American Pale ale's and another one that was quite a bit darker.
Bluzy's has a lot of good beer for those who haven't been, all crafts besides a few taps for cheap crap.

Re: Fancy Beer!
Do you guys get Evil Twin up there in MN? If not, let me know and I can bring some up next time, we just started getting it in grocery stores here, I think their Imperial Biscotti Break is my most favorite beer of all time.

Re: Fancy Beer!
Chris,Chris dad,and I went on a WI growler run today. We ended up with 8growlers and Alys 1/2 growler getting filled.

On the way back we stopped at liftbridge brewing. Found out it was the release party for this years Irish coffee stout. Had a great time there. 5.00 to get in but came with a beer.

Re: Fancy Beer!
Q for my fellow beer lovers, so I have a few bottles that I have been storing for a few months and they have metal caps, I was told that it is bad to store them on there side when they have metal caps, any truth to this?
