Those Borg turbos with the integrated BOV and wastegate are sweet, if my turbos go out I'll probably switch to those.

Whats that fitting on the inlet for? Just a dowel for alignment or actually serve some sort of functional purpose?

I believe that is a threaded stud to hold the intake on.

Looks like where the intake pipe bolts on.

Re: JET's 335Xi

Finally got a chance to work on getting this turbo on. Holy shit this is a bitch! I would take a turbo swap on the rustiest hacked together DSM over this. Finally got the damn turbo out after 4 days and the fittings were a big part of the problem. All of them were seized in the turbo. The car is a 2011, but is driven winters. I was pretty shocked it was that bad. Nothing else was corroded very much, just tons of shit to take out and most very hard to get to. Got it out tonight and started to get it back in place. I was hoping to be done tomorrow, but I doubt that will happen, probably Friday night. I need to get this done and started on the painting project.

Re: JET's 335Xi

While you are at it, gonna upgrade any other parts? Have you guys experienced any of the radio-buzzing issue in your BMW? It happened to me twice within a day last week. Upon researching, it is due to a defective radio head. Like GoodHart said, it's a german car thing!!

Re: JET's 335Xi

The turbo upgrade is my only immediate power plans. After I get my wife's truck painted I will put the spoiler on my car and paint the fender reflectors. I will probably put on the new diffuser also, but the front splitters will probably wait until spring because I am worried about snow ripping them off or cracking them. I may say screw it and toss them on because I would love to see it done. I think this will be it for visual mods.

Next year I will put a FMIC on in the spring probably. I would love to do DP, but I am worried of the warranty implications with that. That totally gives away that I am tuned because it would throw a code otherwise and that would basically void my whole warranty. Not sure I want to go there yet. I might be tempted to put on a 100cell catted DP. Should be little restriction and still not cause O2 sensor issues. Stage 2 Pure turbo should be out by then too, so that may be an option. One thing I love about Pure is that I get a full credit for my stage 1 towards a stage 2 if I send them my stage 1 back. How cool is that?!?

Let us know what you think after running the Pure Turbos product for awhile. I thought about having them upgrade my compressor wheels, but the price was so low I was a bit skeptical on their product quality.

Re: JET's 335Xi

Back went out twice trying to get this turbo in. It is a bitch with the AWD system in the way. Turbo is back in, all lines hooked up and water pump went back in last night. T-stat housing hose has to go back on and mount the T-stat housing, then it should be easy after that. Hoping to get it done late tonight if my back holds out! It got a little pissed last night, but it isn't too bad.

Just curse zee germans more and more and it'll eventually go in. Good luck!

Did you ever get this thing on the dyno for some before/after action?

Re: JET's 335Xi

Damn near got it done last week, but back got tweaked again. Was out of town all weekend. 1 tricky part left to go on, then easy hoses to hook up. Should have it done Tues, have a chump car meeting/working session/drinking team meeting tonight

Had it on the dyno once, but had a bad boost leak so I don't have any good numbers to compare it to. Should gain 30-40whp, but the important part is that it holds boost up top much better. Seeing gains of 80+whp at 6500rpm. They still fall off some up top, but not nearly as bad. I will probably end up going stage 2 next year and that will be as far as I plan on going (upgraded turbine wheel too). I wanted an 11 sec AWD daily with some luxury, handled well and drove like stock. This stage 1 will get me close, stage 2 will be well in the 11's.
