Re: 2G auto S/A daily

best way i found is leave cap off and squeeze the lower rad hose. start car and leave the cap off turn the heater on full blast. when its fully warmed up replace the cap before turning the car off.

Inside engine bay seems better to me. pull cool air in to the bay and hot out. plus it should help cool that manifold.

Do you have the fans wired for lo and hi together?

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

I personally prefer a pull setup with a shroud. That way you aren't blocking any airflow into the radiator, and the shroud helps move air across all the radiator fins, not just the ones directly in front of the fan. I used to also setup the one fan closest to the manifold to be constantly on, that way it was always blowing the hot exhaust manifold air away.

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

Also a lot of people talk smack about aftermarket fans. I have one stock and one aftermarket. They are hooked up to the stock wiring. With the wiring I tied the positives together and then to my fans, and the negatives together and then to my fans, this way both my fans turn on for lo and hi.

Those things are awesome when trying to get all the air out of the system.

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

When trying to remedy this when we took the first drive; we let the car sit turned on and let it warm up with a funnel in the tstat housing. The water kept sucking in and blowing back out. When it stopped I put the radiator cap on and turned the car off.

But the heater wasn't on and we didn't have a cool ass radiator funnel.

It's not about the money it's about the mess. Ever since I used one at DB a few yrs ago I've wanted one. Thing works pretty slick.

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

DSM cooling system is pretty straight forward, unlike some others. There really shouldn't be a need for said funnel. Did you use a new OEM Mitsu water pump on the rebuild? I had a car in once with this issue and I am trying to remember what it was. I want to say it was the wrong gasket on the water pump or something. It wasn't getting good coolant flow. 7 bolt head on a 6 bolt block not lining up coolant passages right? It was something like that.

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

I have a 6 bolt head so should be no issues there. Gasket was new and water pump was just reused from my old motor. Only had 30k on it and looked fine.

Ill try and see if there's bubbles in the system then go from there.

Have one they work good. But love the vac one better. It is just an adaptor for the radiator and hook up shop air. It pulls all the air out of the system in 30sec. I use it all the time on buses.

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

So went out for a cruise with Shawn (his cars running) an Aaron. Got pulled over in FL for no front plate. Kinda funny cops like get your shit figured out and get a plate on it.

Anyways so my cooling issues are still there but we think we got it. Thanks to Aaron and a paper receipt we found out my fans are pulling in front of the radiator so really are not doing shit.

Gonna swap wire tomorrow and them possibly throw on switch if I have time.

Good to see Shawn's (4seasons69) car back on the rode and also the look on kids faces as we rolled past the forest lake beach parking lot. It was priceless.
