Re: My Yatta Project

The problem with this platform and turbos is torque. The 5spds seem to die pretty quick with auto-X use if they are handling any tq (~250lb/ft)

If i remember right, the 6spds tend to be quite a bit more robust. I can't remember if the mazdaspeed box is even stronger yet.

There are some decent supercharger setups these days that can make 300+whp but no where near the tq, and thus the trans is happy.

It's been awhile since i read about miatas so maybe some of these things have changed.

Turbo, duh. So easy to turbo those cars with a 14b or like was said, a 16g.

Like Aaron said, something like a evo iii 16g or similar may be a great option for your goals.
The SC is appealing due to the instant TQ on tap. When I'm coming out of a corner, I don't want to wait for power, and while the spool time on a small turbo like the 14b or even t25 is minimal, it's not the same. The other upside, and main one really holding me up is the pure bolt on aspect to the SC's on the market today. They'll get me to 160-180hp all day long (at 102 to the wheels now), without the need for an additional IC.

I'm lost in the world of fuel though, that and suspension has never been my strong suit by any means, and face it, for those here who do know me, I never went much past the bolt on phase with any of my DSMs.

Yeah, and I have a 5 spd non LSD I need to be worried about. I don't ever think I'll reach 300+ hp on this car, if I get into that range (or the impact that range would have on a Miata) I think I'd move to a new platform, Vette most likely.

Easy, maybe... but I want it done right, safely tuned, and with the proper parts. So I need to look at what I want to do myself (very little actual work really, enjoy driving more), and where I'll bring it for the fun stuff.
