Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build
Well I have an update to the build. I put on an FP race manifold, 4" intake, new entire rear end, kyb gr2's with eibach pro kit, more fuel, new sparco seats, no COP but stock coil and wires instead, Tial 38mm v-band wastegate, and more. I went in and got it aligned and have an appointment for Shane to do his magic next week. I am crossing my fingers to hit 5xx hp.

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build
Well I upgraded from the 255 pump to a Ford GT Walbro 310lph pump with a boost-a-pump. I plugged in the lap top and turned on DSMLink to test the new fuel pump and it works great. A little different tone then the 255's have. It should be good for at least 550whp if not 600.
I went to boost leak test and get everything sealed up and found that the o ring on the 50mm BOV needed replacing. Fixed that and then found another leak that pretty much ruined my day. My SMIC is f'ing cracked. I am now trying to find someone that is known for aluminum welding to fix the crack on Sunday (5/23) so I can get the rest of the car back together and finish leak testing the system.
I am now looking for a intake manifold gasket and a TB gasket. A heat barrier IM gasket would be nice but stock works. I have my appointment set for Tuesday afternoon with Shane at DB and really want to get it running by Sunday night so I dont have to reschedule my appointment. PM me if you have any of these gaskets and if you are an excellent tig welder with aluminum and can meet up tomorrow (5/23).
I am really wanting to get at least 500whp but I keep hearing that the SCM6152 wont flow it. I did send it in and have a BB center section installed instead of a journal so would that increase the possible numbers at all? It is that turbo on a 2.3 with 8.8 compression, e85, crower 414 cams and all of the rest of the goodies.

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build
The SC"M" 61 may not flow enough for those numbers, but I am no expert. I know Mara's 1g made 480ish on that dyno, but that turbo is a T3, not a mitsu flange. Shane told me that JET made some good power on a 2.3/2.4 SCM61 at one point, I don't remember what the number was though. Either way that thing will still make massive power.
As far as the SMIM goes, maybe drop it off a day early and just have Danny weld it up quick, he is a good welder from what I have seen. He did a good job on Brad's (C3L1CA) Front mount and Intake Manifold.

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build
I kind of needed it welded it today so I can get everything else pressure tested and done.

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build
Let me know how much power you put down. I have a similar turbo (sbr g60) and I hope to make 500whp at db with it.

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build
Ahh dammit turbotalon1g I just put it together with a stock or I would of bought that from you. I got a hold of a neighbor of my moms that builds custom street rods and he tig welded up several previous welds on my SMIC including the crack. He put two rows of welds on them so they are stronger. Should be good now.
I readjusted the TPS to where it is supposed to be and its ready to hit the dyno for some tuning on Tuesday! I cant wait. I have never had my car tuned before by Shane because I have done it mostly my self but just do not have the time now.
I did a boost leak test and the only spot it leaks is between the compressor and the backing plate but it held just over 15psi and dropped to 10 psi after 30 seconds. Does that seem good or will that make a difference do you guys think? More photos soon.

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build
That doesn't sound too bad of a leak, but still something that you should try to get figured
out before hand.
GOod luck tomorrow, don't get wrapped up in the numbers.

You should make sure the O-Ring between those two parts isn't rolled or something goofy. If they don't sit in there just right, they can leak. Use a pick to put the O-Ring back in, it makes it way easier.

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build
That sounds fine, 5psi over 30 seconds is acceptable. 500 is going to be a tough number to hit IMHO, and that is insane power. 430 is fast as hell on the street. Honestly if you break into the 430-450 range w/o any other issues, be happy as hell!

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build
I agree to the HP levels. The compressor doesn't come with a seal there and the leak is very minimal so I'm going to leave it. I'll post up results tomorrow.

Really? There is no rubber o-ring between the compressor housing and the backing plate? Mine does, but then again, I also have the S cover on mine.

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build
In for numbers...looks like a sweet setup.
So maybe i missed something, but you want to flow 500whp on a side mount IC?
I know big ass front mounts that don't flow that much air, am i missing something?

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build
Pretty sure he meant to type SMIM (Sheet metal intake manifold) instead of SMIC (side mount intercooler) lol
