92TSIAWD - not to be an ass but I've never been in any accidents.
average less then 1 ticket a year.
The 3 accidents you speak of were minor and no to light damage was done to my car only. (minor damage to front fendor from the steering control arm coming off causing the wheel to bend the inner fender) None of which wer claimed and the total cost of all damages was $300 (my cost for a new rear differencial)
Also for for my CD's I had a $1200 alarm in my car. And everything was stolen while it was in the Care of Tires PLus. I wasn't "Living" in my car I was working 120hr weeks so I felt like I was "living" in it because of all the driving I had to do from job to job. My car from the outside was completely stock. The only stereo equiepment that was visable was my CD player the rest was in a closed trunk. My CD's were under my passenger seat so there is no way they would have known it was there.
I never said we "don't need insurance" what I said was "do onto others as they do to you", and for "Most of us" if we'd actually saved the money we give the insurance company each month we could cover all expense's. ( that would apply for most people, yes "some" people need insurance, I was making a point, and if you apply it yourself you'll get an understanding of what kind of driver you actually are. if you actually need insurance due to things you cause then you are a bad driver but for those of use that haven't been in any accidents or any that were our fault at least then that also tells you something.
The only reason Eric is getting everything fixed hassle free is because it wasn't his fault and someone else has fessed up to it. Meaning that there insurance company is going to pay for it not Eric's in the long run.
For instance I carry Full cover at all times even if my car is down.
when My renter took a hammer to my car I approched the insurance company with it. But I asked what would be my consquences since she won't admit she did it to anyone of athority.
$500 deductable - and there were going to drop my from the insurance after words. (I had 1 ticket in 3years at this time and never had a claim prior)
We had a house fire when I was a kid. was a total loss. But here's how the insurance company figured things.
We bought the house for $65,000 when we had the house fire it was appraised at $500,000 but because they hadn't changed there paper work to reflect the appraisal of $500,000 on the teckincality they only had to pay $65.000 (wasn't our fault it was there's but still my parents got shafted)
Also my Mother kept detail records and all reciepts of all our assets in a Fire proof lock box at all times. Our total assets inside the house = $250,000
Even with all reciepts etc, - the insurance company only gave us $40,000 back.
And we carry full cover on everything.
Seriously if it's every your fault or there is no-one else to blaim then your screwed. And since your going to be taking it up the ass from them might as well give a little back.
-PS: you can also thank your insurance company for all the nice Police radar guns, etc. Insurance company's give money to aid in better Police Traffic management stuff like radar guns why? because for every ticket they can raise rates. So in the long run they get paid more.
