Yeah every time i have lived in an apartment or townhome they have been dicks about working on cars. The last apartment i lived in i got written up at least 7 times for that shit. Granted, i did paint my entire car, pull the motor, and work on all of my friends cars in that garage. But i was paying $1800 for a 1br 1ba 920 sq ft apartment, i figured i was getting my moneys worth, and they wouldnt do shit as long as i kept paying. Now that we moved to MN, we are renting a 4br 4ba house for 1600. LOL The damn sun tax in california kills ya (and if you think you get paid more in california, you are dead wrong... i make double what i was making in CA.)
