Re: how many of us converted to dsms from chevys..
well I started with a 90 plymouth sundance cause it was free and ran, then I went to a 4cylinder 1997 mazda mx6, then to a 1994 v6 mazda mx6, then to a 1999 chev malibu, then to my 1990 talon tsi awd. I didn't want a chev cause all my friends are on the gm band wagon so I wanted to do something different

Re: how many of us converted to dsms from chevys..
Started racing GM powered stuff when I was 14 and continue to do it to this day. I always like the ease and simplicity of the cars and engines. Our current 24 hours of LeMons car is a 87 Regal with a chevy small block in it.
I drove an 86 GMC 3/4 ton truck after high school. It had a 406 small block with a cam, headers, carb and a 3 1/2" exhaust I made. It had the 4 speed tranny with the granny gear so it never went above 75mph.
I got the Galant after getting interested in turbos. I like the 4 door functionality, rarity, and sleeper status of the car.
I do plan to go back to GM cars though. I'll be purchasing a CTS-V when I have to refinance my house in 6 years. Wife gets a kitchen and I get a badass ride.

Re: how many of us converted to dsms from chevys..
I started out with an '87 Chevy Blazer that had a 2.8 v6 and a 4 speed. That thing topped out at about 80 mph, but it was so much fun to beat the hell out of.
Then I moved to a '95 S-10 4x4 that had the 4.3 v6. Some fuel line in the intake manifold (brilliant design GM...) ruptured and hydro-locked the engine less than 24 hours after I drove it off the lot and Friendly Chevrolet wouldn't do anything to help me, so it ended up costing me about $1200 to fix that. I had it for about 2 years and spent more on repairs over the two years than I paid for it, so I sold that and picked up a '93 Toyota Celica.
The Celica was a fun little car until some girl not paying attention made a left turn at a stop light in front of me when I had the green light, so I ended up T-boning her in the passenger rear door.
After the Celica, I bought a '95 Nissan 240sx. Probably the most fun car I've had aside from my DSM, and that's only cuz my DSM has more power. I ended up totaling that out because I hit a patch of black ice and rear-ended a minivan going about 40 mph.
At the same time I had the 240, I bought my first DSM, a '91 Talon that locked up the front balance shaft, stopped the oil pump and blew up about 3 weeks after I bought it. By the time I had it put back together, I already had my '92 gsx, so I just sold the Talon.

Re: how many of us converted to dsms from chevys..
Started with a Cavalier, then went to Honda civic with B18 swap, then bought Toyota. Loved it. I still have it and then I bought Toyota Corolla for daily driver. NEVER had a problem with the thing. put god knows how many miles on it. Toyota was the best cars I have had. Now just recently bought an Evo 8 and I love it, but I haven't had it long enough to have my faith it in yet. (Don't really like the gas mileage) But it is extremely fun
Can I ask why everyone says they love GM so much? I don't really understand it.

Re: how many of us converted to dsms from chevys..
I had a 75 monte carlo with a 383 stroker. I sold it, part of it went to my business the rest to my first dsm project.

Re: how many of us converted to dsms from chevys..
My first car was a 84 Mustang 5.0, then a 88 Ford Escort GT, 91 Eclipse GS, 91 GMC Jimmy 2.8L with 36s + 6" Lift, 89 Chevy Berreta GT, 88 Mitsu Starion, 96 Hyundai Accent, then I got sick of the Duluth winters and bought a 95 Talon TSi AWD, then a 90 Laser Turbo, 1992 Talon TSi, now I have a 01 Grand Prix GTP that runs 12s, and a 2005 Tahoe.
I would have to say the funnest car in the mix was the Starion, whipping shittys was cool when I was younger, and in my opinion nothing whips them better than a Starion/Conquest.
