Yea, I filed a claim with their insurance provider this morning. Also, the car is being parked for a couple days while the ecu is being shipped out to CT for a reflash. I'm excited about the latest code for more boost and more power! Also excited about the potential for another add-on for the car to make +25hp +35tq, the FSI pump can be swapped out and boost cranked down extra hard up top. APR lists their pump for $1100, so if its anywhere near that, the car will be staying as-is....and getting the bumper fixed

Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG

At least it's just the black part of the bumper that got messed up, those are super simple to replace. From the sounds of the accident it wasn't her fault and she did everything right on her part, so hopefully she won't have too much trouble getting her confidence back behind the wheel in snowy conditions.

I almost got in an accident on the way to work last night. Some guy was stopping in the right lane (no shoulder) to let his passenger out at a bus stop, and there was an SUV behind him. So the SUV slows way down, and just as I got about 50 feet behind them in the left lane, the SUV decides he's gonna cut me off so he can go around the stopped car. So I hit my brakes and they instantly locked up, so I started pumping them and got slowed down enough to not hit the guy, but I was only probably about a foot away from his back bumper. After about 100 feet, he decided that he would get back in the right lane, so I honked at him when I went around him.

Well this weekend is supposed to be in the 40's so hopefully none of us will have to deal with snowy driving for much longer!!

Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG

Estimates are in, $450-750 to fix the bumper. Should be pretty easy fix, I'm about 5% considering doing it myself right now, I dunno.

In the meantime, I sent the ECU back out to Connecticut to get reflashed with EPL software. Sometime in the next who knows when they'll have direct port flashing available locally, so if you know anyone with a 2.0t looking for some extra ponies, let me know

Here's logs with the new tune:

Boost tapers worse than an evo or 2G with a T25 cause the K03 is just baby baby baby, but it turns out the main thing holding the car back now is the FSI (direct injection) fuel pump. With the BOV mods I've done there is WGDC left, meaning there are spots I can run more boost but the car is out of fuel right now. AFR's look perfect, low 12's dipping to high 11's. Timing is a little low right when boost spikes, but I'm not sure I really care to be honest; it doesn't knock and the car feels smooth and powerful from 2000-6000. Timing all over is a little janky on this pull actually, but it's just one pull. Looking at some other logs, it still dips below 0, but doesn't bounce around so much in the midrange.

This car is really fun now, it makes Anna giggle and makes me smile. I think I'll sign it up for the spring dyno day at DB, hopefully were at the 200whp mark but mainly I'd like to see where torque is at. It feels like mid 230's.

Sweet, ive been thinking about EPL but since its not offered here yet... and you cant revert back to stock settings on the fly- APR is winning.

Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG

That boost really does taper off, wow. AFR's seem to be pretty steady though. Bringing it to the dyno day?

Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG

So I just got an email from tony; he reminded me that the 2.0t is 10:1 compression....thus the low timing at boost onset, this is normal for these motors

Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG

That makes sense dropping the timing as the boost goes up, then advancing the timing as the boost tapers. Thats gotta make for some smooth acceleration. I think My WRX is similar to that, although I haven't had it on the dyno to see for sure. Boost tapers off slowly after about 4k rpm but it accelerates faster than when I'm in boost, making me think the ECU advances the timing a good amount.

Why would you ever want to revert it to stock? To slow the car down? The dealer isn't going to notice/care, the only thing that would happen is they would flash over your APR rom, just like they did with anna's car....then you'd be in the same boat

I don't want to read backwards through the thread to see if you said, but what are you going to do next to it "mod-wise"?

If it ever needs to go in for warranty work, I dont want it voided... And im pretty sure with APR you dont need to send the ecu to them?
