paint the engine bay?

I will blanket the motor setup, and such but how is everyone spray painting their engine bay? spray simple green on a rag and wipe down or what? then sand, primer, base, clear?

If there is existing paint and you are just redoing it in the same color I wouldnt even primer it just sand very well and paint/clear if wanted. Just make sure to degrease/sand very well and clean EVERYTHING off extremely well before painting.
