Well, the time is here to say goodbye to the talon. I've decided to put my 92 talon up for sale. It has 16x,xxx miles and the engine, I was told has 140,000miles on it. The compression was 150 across all 4 a few months after I bought it.
Brief history: Bought the car summer of 06' for $2500. First replacement was a timing belt and tensioner pulley. I had that done at a local napa certified shop which I believe came to $900-$1100.
Next were the CV joints/boots in the 2 front tires. Bought the parts and did that myself. Along with 4 brand new tires. The tires ran me $400.
In late november of that year, the transmisson went. The car sat until spring of 07', when I bought a used tranny from a local DSM'er. Along with the tranny replacement I resurfaced the pressure plate, I put the old clutch in since it only had medium wear.
The begining of summer 07' the turbo spun a bearing. Replaced with a brand new EVO III GT from archers racing($750). The guy who I bought this car from told me he had replaced the engine, with an engine from another 92' talon. He didn't tell me it was an automatic. So I ended up having to fab-up my own water/oil lines to and from the turbo. Along with the turbo, I put in a new walbro 190, and again I had to fab-up my own piping. I also put on a different O2 housing, identical to

I'm sure I've missed a few minor fixes and what not but I have listed the majority of them.
Current state: In the spring of 08' I believe it blew a headgasket, and has sat since. I have not checked to confirm this, but all the typical signs were there.
MODS not listed above.
Autometer boost guage
Air/Fuel guage
MBC
K&N filter
Medium life act 2100 clutch-not installed
I also have many misc. bolts/screws/washers etc laying around.
A transfer case from my old tranny. As far as I know, it is in good working condition. And many various parts laying about the garage.
Known issues with the car: Ever since I bought the car I have been having a strange problem with flooding. It would drive perfect in weather below60
°, but pretty much anything higher then that it would just stop running
and you could see fueling coming from the flex bend in the exhaust. I have
talked to many people and have tried many things (cleaning the injectors,
different fuel pump) and nothing has worked. Maybe it has something to do with
the headgasket? It gradually got worse until the headgasket blew.
Other then that the body is decent shape, the inside is average. The A pillar plastic is broken. Speedometer needle broken.
Minor burns/wear in the leather seats.
So all in all it would be a decent project for someone that has the time, or
for someone to use for parts. I am not looking to part it out, I am looking to
sell as whole. Any questions please post of PM me, any offers please post
or PM me. Pictures will be up in a few days, and the car is located in Duluth, MN.
