If you shift quick enought you don't need to lift. Just shift fast with the foot on the gas. The car doesn't rev as quickly in the upper RPMs. I did it all the a lot in my old talon w/o any issues/broken tranny parts. My old MSD unit had a similar feature which slowed down my shifting. I turned it off
