Re: My first autocross experience!
For most of the people out there, the car is capable of a faster time than the driver. Some time’s the car’s .01 faster, sometimes the car’s 20 seconds faster. For me it’s about getting closer to that .01. After I'm close to that, maybe I'll think about building a car for a class. Till then, run what you brung, where ever it maybe.
Aaron, a bigger turbo will throw you into SM. It's very open to mods, with some, sometimes odd, sticking points. You can start in SI if you want, I did but switched out before I got kicked.
And also, anybody that's though about our wanted to do an open track day (road course), should auto X first. A lot of the stuff you learn will cross over to the big track.

Very true. I still think there's a good second or so still in the Laser after 2 full autoX days here in Winona.

Road racing is a whole different animal all together. I definitely want to do that.

Re: My first autocross experience!
I'd try autox if my car had power steering and didn't plow like a draft horse trying to go around a tight corner. But I don't feel like having body builder arms just to turn my car fast enough to make it around an autox course.

Oh yeah, I haven't drove my car for so long I forgot it has no power steering. Well now. Time to start lifting them weights.

Thanks for the invite, but I will more then likely be finishing my entry way as many will notice when they show up to the bbq. It still has a long ways to go. I have a huge TO DO list that I spend a lot of my spare time dealing with. I will get it out sometime, but probably not until next summer.
And spending time with my g/f who I don't spend enough time with the way it is already

My laser has no power steering and I managed just fine.
You'll never know untill you try it.

Yes, it is. Is there that big of a difference? Have you driven both without ps?

All you have to do is listen to the instructors, and try to implement what they say, and you will improve. It's much easier to do at something like a novice school, as you get ~16 runs. A normal auto X day (with MAC) you get 6 runs, plus maybe one or two fun. Fun runs are timed, but not recorded (don't count for the competition). At some of the smaller days, like the Lacross one this weekend, since there are fewer cars (50-60ish, V.S. 130-160) you can get more runs. Last time in Eau Clare (60 cars) I got 13 runs, 8 timed, 5 fun. Managed to find the time knew I was leaving on the table during the fun runs. Ran over a second faster! Just wish I would have figured it out sooner.
