Smoke out of tail pipe Burning oil?

My buddys car is fully tuned and has a lot of upgrades like me with a 6bolt arps, esc. He has his car stored right now and he starts it up every once in a while. Well after it runs for about 3 mins it will start smoking out tail pipe but after a lil while it will stop. What you guys think it is? Thanks for the help

Well, sounds like valve guide seals to me, but it's hard to say based off your description. What's the smoke smell like? Oil, coolant, gas?

Could be oil from valve seals or the turbo. Or just water burning off from sitting so much.

What color is it? I just had a headgasket failure for no apparent reason after 1500 miles. It's rare but it does happen.

Re: Smoke out of tail pipe Burning oil?

its a light blue its not black. If i had to say a smell i would say a mixture of probly oil and gas. Its just weird how it does not do it right when you start it up it take like 3 min then it does it but then it goes away after ten min of driving. kinda weird to me, plus it is a newer motor like 5000 miles on it.

Re: Smoke out of tail pipe Burning oil?

It's oil. Probably seals or the turbo as others have stated.

Re: Smoke out of tail pipe Burning oil?

btw, starting your car just every once in a while during storage isn't helping much. After it sits for a while most of the oil drains into the oil pan which can be hard on the motor when you go to start it. I would park it and let it sit until he decides to start driving it regularly again.
