Re: off topic, who snowboards?
This weekend we are going on either Friday or Saturday, not exactly sure yet. But I'm going with my 2 cousins who live out by Ridgedale. I don't know what time yet, but not too early because I'm not that much of an early bird. But I also don't want to start too late. So I'd maybe meet them at their place in Minnetonka around 9-10 or so.
As for the weekend after that, my g/f will also be going, and it will be on that Saturday more then likely. Probably around the same time.

Re: off topic, who snowboards?
I might go to Afton this Saturday also. Depends on how I feel. This past weekend at Spirit sucked so I lost some of my snowboarding spirit. I'm 50/50 right now on going.

You're totally right. Timing is everything. I didn't wait more than 30 seconds to get on a lift all day and there was never a problem with too many people being on the runs. Then again, it wasn't the best day. We'll see how it is tomorrow!

Re: off topic, who snowboards?
i havent been anywhere further than Cascade Mtn. and the one time I went it was way packed. That place is pretty damn expensive too at about $50 for half day pass. How much are these other places you guys talk about?

I think Grand Targhee is about $60 full day, Jackson Hole is $77 single day, most of the Colorado ones are in the $60s for a single day I think, the Montana ones I've been to are in the $50s per day.

Re: off topic, who snowboards?
There is no reason to pay full in either area. Montana will range from $50 to $80 from what I've experienced. Colorado Ranges from $30 on up. Every gas station around ski resorts has coupons for resorts if you fill up there. There are always deals. Just ask the locals. You can always buy comp tickets from hotle staff. They get them all the time, but they have season passes so they sell the comp's cheap.
I'll be Boarding in Colorado this weekend and most of the Christmas break.

Re: off topic, who snowboards?
So did anyone else go to Afton on Saturday? Me and my 3 cousins went out on Saturday. Got there around 9:45 and left at 3. It was a great time! We are going again this upcoming Saturday as well, probably about the same time. I am going to buy a new snowboard before we go though. I'm still using my board that I got back in Junior High, and it's old and pretty short (147). So I'll be heading up to The House to pick up a new one this week. We'll see what I end up with. Nothing too fancy, but not a piece of crap neither. Anywho, here's some pics and video of our exciting day!

Re: off topic, who snowboards?
Oh, and I've been boarding since 1995. Back when I was 13-17 I used to go constantly. Now I'm lucky to get out more then once a year. I'm not nearly as good as I once was, but I can skill get around. I'd like to start doing it more, hence the reason I'm going to go get some new equipment.

Re: off topic, who snowboards?
Im going this Saturday for sure with some friends. We might get there around 11am. If you're there look for a bunch of asians. I'll probably get some of them started at the small bunny hill, then after about an hour I'll take them to the hill by the snow tube area and the 2nd chalet and then the better of us can go around and have some real fun. I was hoping to get a new board by then, but no luck . Hopefully the snow this weekend is nice.

Re: off topic, who snowboards?
Judging by your videos, it looked pretty icy. Was there any powder at all?

Re: off topic, who snowboards?
It was very icy. I thought there'd be more powder considering it was snowing, but oh well. It was fun either way and I can't wait to go again this Saturday!

Re: off topic, who snowboards?
I hate snowboarding on icy hills. I haven't found a wax that will stay on for longer than a few hours when there's icy conditions. What does everyone else use for wax?

There is no such thing. The different waxes are simply for different temperatures. The ice itself will simply rub the wax right off the board because it is so hard, there's nothing you can to about it.
