True this is much easier.

However we did manage to reverse engineer a transfer case with a similar vague description of what happens with 100% success.

Or you could just weld reinforcements and call it good. Some of y'all over complicate this stuff.

Yes and no. The problem is that stress concentrations are quite unpredictable, the opposite of what most think. Welding in reinforcements can dissipate those concentrations but they may also not address anything and in turn, add unnecessary weight.
