Yeah, ball joints would be the first bet. Wheel bearings *usually* start to make a grinding noise. A tie rod end is also a good possibility. Like they said, jack up that wheel and move it back and forth. If it has slop side to side, it is a tie rod end. If it is top to bottom, then a ball joint. If both, it could also be a wheel bearing.
