Found my problem
I got the tranny out and clutch apart, but didn't seen anything wrong at first. After checking the t-case I was pretty stumped. I checked out the clutch again and noticed something odd. The teeth that are supposed to be in the inside of the clutch disk were gone on one of them! It is totally smooth inside and the other disk must have been taking all the power and is a little beat up. The rest looks fine. I will have to call Devo on Monday and see if they will cover this. It has 8 passes on the clutch and maybe 400 miles, so they better!

Re: Found my problem
My friend has a Galant 5spd (4g64 N/T) And he has a bone stock engine with just drive terrain mods, he was shattering clutch disks, we thought it was specs fault but after the 2nd disk we then took the tranny apart and found that the inner input shaft bearing had play in it, we haven't gotten the car back together yet but he bought a new transmission and he got a generic clutch disk (which looks better then the spec one). We are expecting it to not break disks any more.

Re: Found my problem
This is somewhat common, but it sounded like it was only on the PTT one. There's a few threads about it on NABR. I think Devo piped up and said they'd cover it. Did you have to clearance your shift fork to clear the clutch pack bolts? I hadn't heard so til I put it all together they connected, not allowing the engine to turn over at all. I found out after when I contacted Eric at AMS about it. Doh. Tranny back off again.

Yeah, I meant clutch fork. Ooops. It's not the TO bearing, it's the small bolts that hold the clutch fingers to the top plate stick out ever so slightly, and with the extra thickness of the whole assembly, it hits the clutch fork. Luckily, it took me about 3 minutes to find the problem, I could see it hit right through the fork hole in the bellhousing.

Re: Found my problem
Yeah, I had to clearance my fork a lot. I have the unbreakable one in there, which was even thicker than the stocker.
I talked to Devo and they said Quartermaster should warranty it without a problem. I am supposed to send them in the whole clutch and get a new one, besides the flywheel. I am going to call them again Wed when I send it out and see about a turn around time. I bet I can get 2 new disks alot faster than a whole clutch.

Re: Found my problem
I just got done putting in a new fork and ball as well, so that usual .010" of slop is gone. Time to get out the grinder.

Re: Found my problem
I got my clutch back today. They sent it next day air 2 days after I needed it. A total waste of money, but it was their dime. The new disks are TOTALLY different than the old ones. The material on them is a bit different and the hubs are definately hardened now, unlike the old ones. I am pretty sure these are going to hold up better!

Re: Found my problem
Devo said they are running the hardened hubs on their drag car and have over 130 passes on it this year at 700 whp. Hopefully this one holds up as well, thanks Nash!

Re: Found my problem
Well, the car is up and running! I took it for a spin tonight and the clutch is starting to break in. The ground was wet so even 3rd gear was useless at full throttle once the boost hit. It was fun to be back in it and smell the race gas though!
Here is a pic of the new disk, compare it to the center section in the first post. That one is shiny and not heat treated, you will notice this one has a scale on it and is heat treated.
