Minus the rims...
What am I seeing? The Glorified... But un-glorified!

Re: Uhhh.. I think I'm going to freak out.
-New crank + bearings = crankwalked in the past
-Buchur is spelled Buschur
-How do you lighten a ACT 2600 lb clutch?
-The drivetrain was recently replaced yet the 1-2 syncro is bad?
I think you can find a better car Tauni, as perty as that Talon is.

Re: Uhhh.. I think I'm going to freak out.
Now that I think about it, this may not be such a bad buy. I spend waaay more than $3550 on mine, and it's not even turbo. I'd for sure ditch the ugly rims though. What do you guys think?!

Re: Uhhh.. I think I'm going to freak out.
Shit. Now I'm depressed again. But I guess I don't understand. If its fixed, whats the big deal? How big are the chances of it fucking up again?
It's depressing. Last night I was telling my boyfriend how it would be perfect if I could find my exact car in a turbo... I'd be in heaven. Now I find one and I guess it's a pile...

Re: Uhhh.. I think I'm going to freak out.
I really like those body style talons. I prefer black or white though. If it were me, I'd get it if it was sold for a very good price, and then work through the problems. 95% of the DSM's out there will have problems. That's just how they are. To find one that's already moded a bit and be in perfect working condition, no little quirks or issues, that's hard to find.

Well this car is MY car.. Looks identical to mine, which is why I want it so bad. I've found 2 others like it on Ebay that are in pretty nice condition, also a white with black spoiler like mine and a black on black with the same spoiler. This is look I want, and I guess I'm not having as many problems as I thought I would finding one. Just depends on how picky I decide to be, I guess.

Re: Uhhh.. I think I'm going to freak out.
I wasn't saying anything bad about it. If it's what you want that's great. I was just agreeing with you saying that is probably my favorite body style DSM (97-98 talons). And if it were me I'd probably look into it some more and go for it if it sounds good. I could care less if he spelt Buschur wrong.

Re: Uhhh.. I think I'm going to freak out.
Be carefull with eBay. I know one member on here who probably regrets buying a car on eBay and I am sure there are many more.
My advice; find an experienced DSMer and go look at the car before you even think of comiting to it.
Ebay is the easy way out for people with shady products. Most of the time buyers are half way across the country and never see the item 'til the money is in the sellers hands. All the buyer has to lose is a reputation point if he was truthful in his description.
Deals can definitely be had on eBay as long as you are careful.

Re: Uhhh.. I think I'm going to freak out.
I dont think I could ever buy a car without driving it, looking it over multiple times and meeting with the owner. Buying a car by just seeing pictures is not my style of buying a car. I looked at numerous cars and fond a couple in Illinois and was even going to do a broker style find, but the car they had just wasnt in the best of shape. -Not Steve Hill's company, a different brokerage.

Re: Uhhh.. I think I'm going to freak out.
I bought mine off DSM Trader. Never saw it. I was nervous about it. It worked out fine for me though. I'm sure there are people out there that are going to screw you, it's a craps shoot sorta. You could get a car that's exactly as advertised, or get totally screwed!

Re: Uhhh.. I think I'm going to freak out.
I don't think I would actually buy THAT particular car, I was just aknowledging the fact that they are out there for me to find! I know all of the ups and down and I trust local deals [Auto Trader, Car soup, Etc] a lot more than ebay. But I'm not even ready to buy a car yet, since I haven't even sold the Glorified yet. And I'm still debating in my head what I may want.
I've found a few local DSM's that I would possibly want, I found a 1998 S10 thats pretty much perfect for a good price, and I'm still looking around for deals. I don't know if I want my next car to be a DSM, considering I don't think I will be alble to afford it right away.. But I might...

Re: Uhhh.. I think I'm going to freak out.
I bought my AWD rolling chassis from a guy in Kansas City off of DSMTuners. I got tons of pics before hand and felt pretty confident the car was owned by someone who knew DSM's well enough he knew what he was selling. When I picked the car up I was suprised the car looked MUCH better in person than it did in pictures. There were a couple of dings that I didn't know about, but nothing major at all. For the price I paid, I can't complain at all. Now if I were spending several thousand dollars for a running car, I'd want to test drive it first and make sure it was 100%.

Re: Uhhh.. I think I'm going to freak out.
Matt: This is what you just told me:
MuDvAyNe1543: Ive owned mine for 9 months, its ran for 4
SO NO!
I don't know what will make me happy. Thats the issue, I guess. A DSM won't make me happy when I'm putting money I don't have into it all the time and it's not always running, but at the same time, I love DSMs that run! They are nice looking [most of them anyways] and they can be fast. But I've also wanted a S10 for some time. AS well has having big plans for any DSM I were to get, I also would have big plans for an S10... Like I've said before, I don't limit myself to anything. But at this point in time I am still deciding what I want exactly.
*EDIT*
I attempted to go on DSMTuners, and it said the website was down do to lots of fraud incidents...

Re: Uhhh.. I think I'm going to freak out.
Have you checked local resources at all?
Autotrader, Carsoup, Cars.com?
I don't understand how people bitch about not being able to find specific vehicles when the most commonly used places of advertising aren't even checked.

Re: Uhhh.. I think I'm going to freak out.
I have purchased most of my cars from Carsoup, one was from Autotrader. Just some random useless info...
