Rock Falls October 15&16

Ok, so is anyone going this coming weekend. I don't see any rain predicted for either days. I haven't went all year and now that my car is running pretty dam good i gotta get it to the track. I really want to go on test day because it would probably be a waste to do my tuning during the 3 time runs on Sunday. Saturday is $69 test day. Only one more weekend left after this weekend. Would like to see some of you guys at the track before the years over with.

$69 is kinda a lot of money to race for one day when the following weekend you can race and only have to pay $37. I'll think about it. Might be a last decision seeing I would like to get atleast 2 track days in with the rebuilt turbo before I put the car away for storage.

Re: Rock Falls October 15&16

This Saturday is the $69 test day. It's not a race day however they always have the Saturday night showdown that you could race in at the end of the test day for like an additional $20.

I need to go on a $69 day just for a solid day of testing. You only get 3 time trials on a race day sometimes more if there is a small crowd. But i went on a fun day last year where i only got 2 time trials. Race day is no day to be doing major tuning on.

That's the only reason that i can justify the $69. Quite frankly i didn't build the car to race it anyway. I did it as a personal goal thing and to share a common interest between my dad and brother whom also race as well.

Shit the last Fun Day I went to I got 9 time trials in and didnt even care to stay for eliminations.

On average, (for the people who have gone on Test Days) how many runs do you normally get in?

And no Tauni it does not cost $69 to watch.

Re: Rock Falls October 15&16

typically on a Full Day from 8am till you loose in Bracket runs - I get anywhere from 4-6 runs in a 10hr time frame.

Hardly a way to get consistency... You really need to be able to do back to back runs that way you can get into a rythm...

For the first time ever I had that happen at Moroso during the Nopi Nationals.. I was making a run ever 3 minutes for 1 hr. I never stopped moving unless I wanted to change something on the DSMLINK or let the car cool off.

Each time I went my 60' times where getting better.

I since went back on a Friday and once again I started off in the upper 1.9 60' and only got 3 runs in the 3hours or what ever it was that I was there. And my 60's never improved.

On the Test&Tune day at RF that a few of older DSMers went to a few years, you could have got 30+ runs in and still take an hour or more for lunch. I think I did a few hot lap passes, which isn't so good for the clutch.

Shit... For that many runs $69 doesnt sound bad at all! Plus with the cool weather this could turn out a good weekend!

I know of a certain 2G that might put down some good numbers if he can drive and get some traction tomorrow. I heard the guy that built his engine is a real lazy bastard that will be working on his own POS tomorrow.

Re: Rock Falls October 15&16

I'm all packed up and ready to go for tommorow to test/tune day. I just got my wideband o2 up and running today. This will be my first time to the track with my GSX. My best time on the old GST was a 14.05. I hope to skip a whole second and then some at some point tommorow.

Re: Rock Falls October 15&16

Well i went to test/tune day at the Rock. No DSM's other than mine. :-( This is my first time out with the GSX to the track. This is actually my first time out with an AWD. The lauching took some getting used to that's for sure. I'll just spit out my best run of the day. All were 12 second runs. I have a very good boost leak some where that seemed to be progressive. After each run I would have to crank up the boost just to run the same amount of boost as the previous run. I probably turned in the MBC at least 4 turns which is ALOT!!! I never could boost past 19 lbs. I might have hit 19.5# a couple times but that was it. Pissed me off and i didn't feel like digging for it. Too hard to find without actually doing a real test. Idle rpms kept going down so i know it was definately leaking.

I used NLTS and Antilag all day. I used antilag at the line and during shifts. It's noisy but it works! By the end of the day I had my studderbox set at 6500. It was pulling the motor down too much with anything less.

My personal Best <<-- EVER -->>

60' 1.795
330 5.197
1/8 8.024
MPH 89.53
1000 10.42
1/4 12.441
MPH 112.16

Once i get that dam boost leak fixed so i can boost around 26-27#, there is easily 11's in the car. Plus I gotta work on that lousy 60'. 1.795 could be greatly improved upon.

Overall i was extemely impressed. I went from a best of 14.05 in the old GST to a 12.44. My goal is 11.99.

I might take it to Fun Day next weekend if i find the leak. Should be an extremely easy leak to find.

Re: Rock Falls October 15&16

Thanks Shane. I really appreciate your help throughout the summer, Seriously!!! You've helped me alot. I guess i didn't really know what a good 60' was because i didn't goto Rock today knowing what a good one was. 1.795 is pretty good now that i looked at some peoples timeslips. I was cutting high 1.8's most of the day but then i upped the lauch RPM so it wouldn't pull the motor down. That helped considerably.

I got the Wideband o2 in last night. Now you don't have to keep telling me to get a wideband :-) Stupid me, i didn't know what to shoot for on the wideband so i was playing it safe today and running it at 11.9:1 a/f ratio. What do you shoot for on 114 octane fuel??? For some reason I thought i could go around 12.3:1 a/f but wasn't gonna do it without knowing for sure.

BTW- you're 10.42 will be a very long time before anybody touches that. There was a Viper there today. NICE!! Saw him run a 10.99 but he was spraying the NOS.

Thanks again! I couldn't be more proud of myself after today.

Re: Rock Falls October 15&16

Very nice times especially on 19lbs. was this pump gas?

There was a ford lightening running 10.7's today... He was running 125zex shot ontop of bigger supercharger.

Re: Rock Falls October 15&16

Thanks Brian. I appreciate the compliment. Nah- it was on 114 octane. I just couldn't get it to boost more than 19psi. Either bad boost leak, bad MBC or malfuncting internal wastegate actuator. At only 19# I could have run on pump 93 gas and my Meth Injection but I turned that off and just ran the straight race gas. I'm happy though. Can't expect to run goals the first time out otherwise it would get boring. Now if i was running 26psi and went 12.441 then i would be a bit disgusted.

BTW- I made 8 passes today. I'm beat. Lots of people there. Probably 4+ breakdowns or oil downs which sucked cuz then then staging lanes would pile up and you'd have to sit forever. After 8 runs i was sick of it for the day.
