Ignorance is bliss
So I parked my car for the winter again, I keep it up north in a pole barn in Brained area . Than we visited with family up there, we all had a good time. Then the topic came up, about me and another family member storing cars for the season. The people wanted to know what kind of cars, we tell them. He said “I store my 87 Porsche 944”, everyone is like wow that’s a fast car or wow a Porsche. Than I tell them “I park the laser”…everyone is like, what's a laser?...People think the 944 is fast!? it's a non-turbo all stock, fast? Not faster than the good old laser. The general public is so ignorant to what is fast. oh well the Porsch is a better car. Anyway I hope everyone had a good turkey day.

Actually Peter they were a 2.5L engine in them. What color is it? My mother just sold hers a few months ago. The 944 NT's were slow in the straights, but murdered almost everything on the street in the corners. Back when they were making them, it was more about carrying speed thru the corners. You can also lay rubber in first and second gear until the cows come home. They are very fun to drive and you get looked at by everyone (including police).

When I think of 944's, I think of $$$$.I made a killing off one a few years back. This guy in St Paul had one that some shop told him it needed a new head and would cost $3500.I got the car for $800, and it only needed a head gasket.I threw in the HG and repainted the whole car and I got $6500 for it, I only had $1500 into it.Easy 5 grand for 4 days work.

Yea, caustad on here made some good bank on a non-turbo one if I remember too, in a similar way. That was a pretty fun ride. The turbo model is awesome, though. The tranny is in the back, so weight distro is 50/50 (all models, actually) but the available modlist for those is a mile long, and if I was going to be doing road racing, this would be a huge bang-for-your-buck ride, as seen on nsxfiles.com.
I looked at a cherry '87 turbo model about four years ago, and almost bought it for $7k. I kinda always regretted not buying that car, until I bought my dsm. =)
I do still have some pics of it though, and I still hang my head a little everytime I look at them:

Yea, I always swore I'd buy a porsche by the time I was 30, but having a 300+whp sure makes it easier to wait...
Oh yea, I forgot--I didn't buy it because I moved to Edinburgh, Scotland:

Part of the fun of owning a Laser is the fact that nobody knows what it is. Granted, a lot of car nuts know what it is, but average Joe doesn't. If you want a car that everyone knows, buy a Mustang or Corvette.
The Lasers are good sleepers.

Don't forget the Vee's, the more vee's you have the more power your chips and cams make.
Jeez, you don't know anything about VW's
