e85 in IA?

I am going to hopefully take my talon from the cities here down to Decorah and back this week starting tomorrow morning, and I realized that after Rochester e85 is scarce. Are there any places or ideas that you guys might have? I will probably bring at least 5 gallons to have on hand. But with a small tank I don't want to be limited to parking the car all 3 days. Thanks!

E85 is all over the place in Iowa. Kum & Go seems to carry it quite often.

Re: e85 in IA?

Alright I'll search for those. Sadly it seems most locator type websites are out of date.

Re: e85 in IA?

Lol true. I've done this trip and dozens of 1000+ mile road trips, but never in a vehicle requiring e85. I will have my laptop with me to make ECU changes if absolutely necessary but I just thought I'd lay out a route that doesn't require bringing extra fuel for safety and convenience. Also, politics more than geography play a role in what types of fuel are available...

There isn't much in NE Iowa. I have a paid E85 app that keeps up to date pretty well. Rochester to Decorah looks like 75 miles each way, should have plenty of fuel to get you back if you fill up in Rochester on your way down.

Downloading now if I can find it! Didn't think of that sadly. Which one do you have or find works best? Yea if I average around 18 mpg for 12 gallons, I should have room to play a little bit anyway.

Mine is called E85 on iPhone, but I don't see it in the store anymore. Maybe it's not up to date... I never use it now that I don't have an E85 car. I see a few free apps in the store now though.

Hm okay. Tried all of the free ones just now. One or two seem promising but outside the metro we'll see how accurate they are. There is a paid one I will probably pop for as it seems to be the most complete despite no reviews. I wonder if the DOT of a state would have a current list on call... I say this because I plan more distant trips in the future. Maybe time for a fuel cell
