Shopping for a new bed
King size, any recommendations? Open to anything in a reasonable price range, I know kings are more spendy than others
Going shopping with the wife this weekend so would like a few hints as to where is worth checking out.

Re: Shopping for a new bed
I have to say check out a sleep number bed, by Select Comfort. There kinda spendy, but they've beed running a lot of sales now-a-days, so they're about the price of a nice spring matress set. Definatly worth looking into. I've had mine about 2 years now and not one problem, plus the have a 20 year warrenty on all the componants. Best bed you could ever own.

Re: Shopping for a new bed
I would suggest macys home store, never pay full price for a bed there always on sale or going on sale got my queen last fall from them and a frame for 1100...the frame was a closeout floor model and the bed is a very nice pillow top.

Re: Shopping for a new bed
A few months ago I got a bed from the original mattress factory. Decent prices, and pretty good quality.

Re: Shopping for a new bed
I got my whole bedroom set from Ikea. I am overall pretty happy with it, but I honestly would say if it's for your bedroom I wouldn't. After about 2 years though, it's developed a bit of a squeek when someone joins me on it, and actually squeeks to the point of being rather humurous if you know what I'm getting at
I'm going to take the mattress off one of these days and go and retighten all the bolts to see if it helps

Re: Shopping for a new bed
Hahaha yea my full bed is from Ikea as well, and I seem to have the same problem that Brandon has... lol Had to put some extra screws in the front and back. The mattress is comfy and has held up for 3 years just fine.
Definitely look into a solid wood or metal framed bed. I did purchase another queen mattress a year ago that was much better quality, and I think it was from mattress giant. I dont have a frame for that one yet though. Im letting my parents use it as a guest bed it until I move into a bigger place.

Re: Shopping for a new bed
I got my bed from Slumberland. I bet I laid on at least 20 beds before I decided on mine. It's a Simmon's Beautyrest pillowtop, the one with the individually coiled springs. Absolutely love it. For the price and how comfortable it is it was a no brainer. Got a slim box spring so the bed itself wasn't 4 feet tall, metal frame and a mattress pad that will block things like dust mites, dust, dead skin and such from getting into the mattress.

Re: Shopping for a new bed
I have had my sleep number bed for a few years and like it. Some people don't care for them though.

Re: Shopping for a new bed
I did not care for the sleep number bed. The other bed I remember hating was the one that was built with the memory foam from NASA, what a pile of junk.

Re: Shopping for a new bed
Well we spent all day yesterday shopping. We tried everything but a sleep number bed. Last night we decided on a king size Serta Vera Wang Chignon Euro Top mattress from Hom Furnature, and we scored a new Hotel Collection bedding set for about $80 to go with it from TJMax.
We got half-off the sticker price and I get a $350 gift card from Best Buy after I have had it for a week (and obviously decide to keep it). Too bad it won't be here for black friday, as I'm planning on picking up a 40" Samsung LCD :P Obviously I could find other stuff to spend it on, but I might just pick up the newer model and use the gift card to knock the price way down.
We had to rearrange and then re-rearrange, I haven't done much to this room since we bought the house, so it was nice for a little change
27" sony in the corner will be getting replaced by the 32" LCD from my living room once I pick up the 40". Going to be doing a basic wall mount now that the wall on the left of this picture is completely bare, and also picking up a little dressing table for Anna from Ikea.
Thanks again to everyone for all of the advice! It made this process a lot easier going into it a bit informed. Having a king is awesome! Plenty of room for sleepovers
